in the salvatore mansion, alaric comes over in the early morning with a serious 'game face' on. damon lets him in and they both walk into the living room. the older salvatore has his signature smirk on his face.

"so john gilbert gave me this to kill those pesky originals." he says, taking a silver dagger out of his pocket. "said you have to dip the dagger in the remains of an old white ash tree that dates back to the originals' time, if there's any truth in that."

"so you think it's a setup?" alaric muses, staring intently at the dagger in his friend's hand.

"it could be, that guy's a weasel. wouldn't put anything past him." damon shrugs. he thought it was worth a shot. seeing as if it worked, this dagger could take down both elijah and elle, getting rid of two huge threats at once. "well what are you up to today, mr saltzman?"

"well, jenna and i were supposed to go to her family's lake house, but somehow, we both got roped into doing this historical society thing at the lockwood's." ric sighs.

"where elijah and elle are the guests of honour." damon smirks once again, a plan formulating in his mind.

"they are?"

"they are now."

"tell me you're not going to kill them at a tea party." ric warns.

"no. that would be stupid. i want to know their endgames before we kill them, but i think it's time we all met up. i mean elle and elijah could do with a reunion."

earlier in the day, elle rosebury had received an invitation to an event that the mayor was holding at the lockwood mansion. she pondered with the idea of going before deciding that she needed to keep appearances up, seeing as she was relatively new to town and was planning to use this as a chance to make a good impression.

it had been awhile since elle had spoken to any of her 'friends' here, anyone at all really. since the scooby gang had found out about who she is and her colourful past with the mikaelsons, they been avoiding her. damon and stefan were too busy trying to protect elena, katherine was still in the tomb, bonne, caroline and the others were doing who knows what, all trying to pitch in. elle's been keeping to herself for a few days, or 'laying low.', needing time to think and process all that's going on around her. though its not like the original has anything or anyone to get up for anyway.

elle spends the morning trying to find an outfit for the historical society tea party at the lockwood's, eventually ending up choosing to wear a long dress with black boots. currently, she was stood on the porch of the lockwood mansion, waiting for carol or tyler to come and let her in.

"elle!" carol gushes as she opens the door. "come on in, it's lovely to have you."

"thank you, mayor lockwood." elle says, stepping through the door and breathing a sigh of relief. the blonde smiles graciously at carol before gliding past her, into the party. as she makes her way into the party her eyes widen when they land on elijah, standing in a corner. after an internal debate lasting approximately 5 seconds, elle makes her way over to him, deciding she can't ignore him forever.

"elijah, what the hell are you doing here?" she whispers, approaching him. he looks shocked to see the blonde here, in the flesh,  but recovers his cool composition soon enough.
