No. No. Not the banishing gong. Only the dinner gong.
I supported my weight on one elbow and stood up, shivering slightly as the cold, evening air brushed through my fur. I unsheathed my claws, and carefully climbed up the trunk, carefully selecting my path. I gasped as I almost fell midway, but quickly supported myself on a deep groove in the tree. I let out a sigh of relief when I arrived at the top, and flicked a dead branch away from my leg. The sun was sinking under the hills, and the sky was becoming dark.
I breathed in the fresh air, but then tensed when a scent of an animal reached my nose. It may be some prey, but I'm not risky. I was looking out for it, when I slipped on a leaf and came crashing towards the ground. I winced in pain as a bramble cut my leg. I kept silent, and stood up slowly, keeping as quiet as possible. I was very vulnerable, without my advantage of high ground and my injured ankle. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness of the trees, I heard a rustle near me. I squinted, and saw a shadow that disappeared. My patience ran out and I yelled, "Who's there? Come out and fight me." The response was a silent cough, and the figure came out."Crane?" I lowered my paws, slightly confused. He would've been eating dinner by now
"H-Hey Tigress.. Master Shifu ordered us to search the whole village for you, after your..." He took a pause to make his words appealing. "Argument with Viper. I've been searching for hours, and I decided to pop by and take some fresh air. I saw you, and here I am." He seemed sympathetic, saying in a calm voice.
"Oh. Thanks Crane. I was just... Hanging around, I guess." My stomach stopped flopping around and I could finally relax. Then all of a sudden, my leg started working up again, causing me to groan.
The bird quickly noticed my pain, and seized me while carrying me up to the sky. I wanted to walk by myself, but hesitated. My ankle could get infected if I didn't treat it soon enough.
----------------------
We arrived in the Palace, and Crane gently let go of me in the Medical Room. Surprisingly, Mantis came to treat me. Not many people know that he is very experienced with medication as well as Kung Fu.
He slid a bit of my soft pants up, revealing the scratch. Mantis' face showed no surprise nor relief, and went to the storage room to grab what he needed. He came back, and gave me something to drink. It was a soothing, warm drink, sweet as honey. It reminded me of a plant to cause sleep.....
Wait.
My eyelids felt as if thousands of elephants were standing on it, and I couldn't keep them open. I fell asleep before I could say something.I was in a different dimension, everything dark and out of order. Things were made out of black, all people I knew were manipulated. Howls and shrieks of fury came from all directions, deafening me. Scars and injuries covered the faces of all, giving them a shivering look. This. Was. Mad.
Then, from the distance came a shadow. I couldn't find the shape or decipher who it was. The shadow was towering over animals, giving them a stare that was as cold as Antartica. I tried to back up, but a concrete wall blocked my way. I was trapped. It came closer and closer, the shadow getting larger as each footstep stride across. My eyes open widely as the shadow reveals...My father.
He had the same, ginger eyes, with rough orange and black fur. He was clearly my father.
But how do I know? It could've been any other wild cat with stripes that resembled something that is not related to my family. But I recognize that harsh glare, seeing it on the day I was born, the day he swore he never wanted a daughter, the day he starved me, the day he plotted to desert me, and the day he put me away into the forest to die. I watched in horror as he showed his sharp teeth, ready to lunge at my throat. My body was paralyzed, and couldn't move. My own father.. Ready to kill me.
I held back tears, and I choked my words out, "H-How could you kill me, I-I'm your own daughter..." He didn't respond, but closed his mouth. My eyes couldn't hold it anymore, and tears ran down my cheek. His wild pupils came back to a soft orange, looking less vicious. He started towards me, then stopped. The tiger opened his arms and I foolishly ran into them. We hugged for a while, and a bond grew somewhere in there. The animal who tried to kill me. The one who scarred me for life. He's right there, and I'm in his arms.Because everything I said before, was after my mother had died giving birth to me.
"I never should've left you, my little Kitty." My father smiled in a deep, but comforting voice. Usually, I'd tell the person who called me Kitty to back off, except for my father. I purred like I once did when my mother had her lasts laughs before she went to the Afterlife. All I wanted to do was stay with him forever, like we once did before he became a savage.
We were having our moments as a large commotion started building up. Screams were louder than before, and everyone started running away from something. It took me a while before I realized, something was wrong. A monstrosity that came out of nowhere started eating poor, innocent animals in the darkness and came towards our direction. My father grabbed me and stuffed me in a tiny room inside a camouflaged building. I grabbed his arm as he headed for the door, but he shook his head. I pleaded and begged, but he went outside to face the enemy. I tried to move from the building, and got shocked from a strange censor at the entrance. All I could do was watch. And what I saw before he exploded, my father looked at me and he mouthed the words...
I love you.
------------
"No! FATHER! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME! NO!" I woke up, panting hard and yelling. The first thing I saw was a startled bug, and a snake with her jaws wide open.
I shook my head to clear my head, and what happened. It was just a dream Tigress. They were fixing your leg. I coaxed myself.
Mantis gave me a shock pill, and Viper petted my head with her tail soothingly, making me feel somewhat better. After a few minutes, Crane came in.
"Hey Tigress. You feeling any better?" He was the only one who spoke since my dream, other than that trauma I had. I was too weak to speak all of a sudden, so I nodded. That was a lie, since I felt horrible.
He told me what happened while I slept, which was the whole night and some of the morning. The bird also mentioned that there was a guest to see me.
"A guest? Alright, bring me to him." I said, getting up from my cot. My leg felt much better, and I could move freely.
I followed Crane down the corridor, and into a room I haven't seen for a while. It was a very clean, and elegant room that was white and had some couches with a few tables. I opened the marble door, revealing a chair that was faced the other way. That was probably the one with the guest waiting for me.
"Good luck." Crane shut the door behind him, and now it was just me and my guest.
I sat down, folding my paws neatly. He seemed to not know I was present, so I cleared my throat, giving him the indication that I was there.
As I predicted, the chair turned. I gasped in horror as I recognized the face.....The one who killed my father in my dream.
