All I could think of was the needle biting my skin when Ben stabbed me the first time I met him. Then and now, I still don't like him. But I think the feeling is neutral.
It only took a tiny second for Douglas to pounce on top of Ben. Both of them tumbled to the floor, wrestling and grunting. But mainly punching the hell out of each other.
Jr, on the other hand, tried to knock out the other guy with the butt of his gun, but that didn't work. The older man was too slow for the young lad in black. The kid sidestepped and swung a roundhouse to Jr's jaw. A crunching pop sounded off of Jr's face and the kid smirked.
"What are we? Chopped liver?" Larann growled. She crossed her arms over chest and she swung her gun over her shoulder.
"Well for one thing, we don't have time for this. So...don't judge me on what I'm about to do next." I snapped back.
I took my sword out from the scabbard and flipped the hilt in my hands. The kid in black cocked his gun, aiming it at Jr's head and maleficent grin popped up on his face. I wasn't going to watch my friend die, so in one sweeping motion, I sliced my blade horizontally at the kids throat. Of course, the kids saw this and backed up a bit. In the end, there was only a thin cut and a small amount of blood that trickled out.
He aimed the gun at me, ready to fire, but stopped when a gun shot went off. At first, the world was at a stand still. I looked behind me to find Larann's gun smoking from the barrel.
My attention went back to the kid. He had a hole in his chest, a bloody bib soaked his shirt, but I'm quite sure that his shirt is the least of his problems. At the last second, he pulled his gun up a tiny inch of a fraction and almost pulled the trigger, but I wouldn't let him. I dove forward, using my sword as a spear, I slammed the point in his heart.
Jr took the gun from him while I turned to Ben and Douglas. We seriously don't have time for this. While for a second I watched Ben strangle the hell out of Douglas, I stabbed my sword into his back, hoping the tip of the blade was visible on the other side of his body.
Douglas kicked Ben off and gaped up at me.
"What?" I asked, marching my way up the stairs.
"Why did you kill him? Both of them?!" He yelled. I raised one eyebrow and glared at him. Seriously?
"Because he was killing you!" I yelled back, shoving a finger in his chest. "And I have a feeling that if we are caught then we will die. There's no going back to that cell."
The look on his face told me that I was right. And I knew I was. But I just didn't want to hear it.
We walked up every flight of stairs, with burning calfs and heavy breathing, we popped up on the roof. Awaiting us was the two brothers. Travis was in the pilots seat and Matt was throwing in supplies.
"Come on! We'll call Ethan and let him open the top. We only have ten seconds before it closes automatically." Matt explained. We all pilled in the machine, possibly the same machine that brought me here, and Travis turned the beast on.
As the machine grew louder and louder, the buildings began to shrink and decrease like ants. Travis navigated the thing higher and higher until we were only a couple of meters away from freedom. My insides bursted and my soul was light, happy, overjoyed, and cheery.
"Almost there!" Travis yelled over the machine's roar. Then, beeping sounds went off on the dash board. "Shit."
"What is it?" Matt yelled. He leaned over to look at the board. "Well, shit."
"What's happening?" Larann asked, clearly annoyed.
"We're on lock down. Something that I was afraid of." He replied in a harsh tone. He glared at the dash board with his green eyes for a second longer before snorting out a sigh. "Screw it." He lurched the helicopter higher until the rims of the dome appeared on either side of the machine, then hovering completely over it.
"We did it!" Larann celebrated. The wind picked up her blonde curls and a couple strands flew in her mouth.
Soon, everyone joined in on her joyce occasion. Even me, guiltily. The sun rise even gathered for a happy thrill along with us. I gazed out of the doorless side and admired the warm sun tickling my skin, the fresh air, the green luscious vegetation and the open sky. I missed it all.
But our excitement was ended shortly when the beeping sound came back. It was louder and more annoying than before.
"Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit." Travis repeated. I looked over his shoulder and saw that both of his hands was grasping a lever and was having a hard time controlling it.
"What's wrong?" Jr asked. He grew nervous and restless. He strapped on a belt and held on tight.
"As I said, we were on lock down. Meaning if a helicopter passes the domes top without a certain code then it locks up. But every solider get a new doe everyday. Which sucks and I couldn't get one," he explained. "Jade! Where do we park?"
I looked out the door, all around me that looked safe to land. The only place was a small opening coming up on my side. It was a gamble really. I told Travis where to go but it seemed we weren't going to make it.
"Shit, guys! Strap in! We are crash landing."
Travis got as close as he could to the ground. The top of the helicopter hit the tree branches, making us drop faster to the ground and my stomach flip. I heard Larann scream next to me, Jr cursing, and Douglas looking calm in my eyes. And I knew just by that look, we are fine. We're out of the dome. We lived through hell.
