School is finally over, I start walking towards my car when I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn around a bit startled. " oh um hey Alex" I say, he looks at me with those beautiful hazel eyes, " I just wanted to apologize for running off today, Kaya's grandpa died and so I thought I should comfort her." " Oh" I say looking down at my worn out converse. Alex and I have been close friends for a while and he knows me really well so he can always tell when somethings up. " Are you okay?" He asks concerned. " yeah I'm fine" I say faking and smile. He gives me a very disconcerning look. " it's just.." I start but I can't finish, I want to tell him I like him but I just can't. He continues staring into my soul with his beautiful eyes. " I....I should probably go.." Before I turn to get in my car he gives me a hug I didn't know I needed so badly. I can feel his heart beating right next to mine. He is the only person that can make me really smile, not just a smile I conjour up to entertain other people but a real smile. He lets go and I walk to my car blushing, he walks away and I can see a smile on his face. For a second I think " Could he like me back?" No there's no way.
I drive in silence the whole way home thinking hard about Alex. Once I get home I go straight into my room and lay on my bed, my mom calls and says she'll be at work late so I decide to go to Alex's house. I put on some sweatpants and a T-shirt, I'm really comfortable around him. I text him that I'm coming over.
