Sunblaze shifted stubbornly as Falconfur left her in the warrior's den. Three mice lay beside her body, but Sunblaze wouldn't eat them. She was too sad to eat or talk or do anything else. Brairpatch had died two days ago, and Sunblaze felt responsible. Mosspaw, the apprentice that Falconfur had saved, came and visited her every day, but even though Mosspaw would try to comfort Sunblaze, she never came through to Sunblaze. I never even knew Tallstar, my father. He's gone too. I wish StarClan would just get me too, were Sunblaze's thoughts every single day. She couldn't bring herself to face LightningClan after Brairpatch died.
"This is ridiculous, Sunblaze! You're coming out, and you're coming out now!" Skypaw screamed as she gabbed Sunblaze by the scruff and dragged her out of the warrior's den. "Hey! Lemme go!" Sunblaze screeched, raking her claws against Skylark's muzzle. Skylark ignored the blow and dropped Sunblaze in the middle of LightningClan's camp. Sparkstar stared at Sunblaze in dismay as she faced Skypaw. "You don't know what happened, Skypaw. You don't know what I've been through," Sunblaze whispered. Skypaw looked at Sunblaze. "I'm going hunting," Sunblaze muttered before blazing out of the camp.
Sunblaze looked at the stars that were shining brightly in the sky. Is there a star for Brairpatch? she wondered aloud. "Yes, Sunblaze. There is," Sparkstar said as he sat next to Sunblaze. "I remember when my father died, he was a brave cat, they told me. I was just a kit back then, I never even knew him. But I think his name was... Ashdawn," the silver cat told her. Ashdawn? Sunblaze thought. She had met that cat once, and he was not dead. "Sparkstar, he's not dead. I met him once, by a lakeside. He helped me when I was drowning, but all I got was his name, if you want, go look for him. I'm sure he would love to meet you," Sunblaze exclaimed. "Really?" Sparkstar asked, surprised. Sunblaze nodded her head. "Okay, I'm going to look for him. You'll be in charge of camp, Sunblaze, while I'm gone," Sparkstar said before pelting into the woods. "Wait! I'm going with you!" Sunblaze cried before following Sparkstar. Sparkstar only turned around and gave Sunblaze a quick nod before he raced off again.
