Chapter 20: Ghen

Daughter of Mr. Gundilino & Mrs. Juliana Ramos

Ghen is the youngest of three siblings.

The eldest son was Gilber, the UV Express van driver.

The elder daughter was Genefe "Faye", the fish retailer. The money maker. The breadwinner of the family.

The next was Garry. He died when he was just a year old. Boiling hot water dropped unto him... Accidentally... He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

If it wasn't for Kuya Garry, Ghen won't exist.

Like, Hans, Ghen wasn't planned...

Her chilhood was...

Her father sells dirty ice cream (known as "Sorbetes" in the Philippines. It's not actually dirty. The ice cream is home-made or within the home's vicinity or proximity) in the streets.

Her mother handles the water selling for the whole tenement.

Her brother and sister sells plastic bags in the market when they were younger so they can have some money for school.

They barely survives the day.

Ghen was always left at home because she's always sick. Most of the time, using it to her own advantage.

She's spoiled as hell inspite of their status in life. Mom's favorite daughter. And in this household, mom always has the last say.

What Ghen want, Ghen gets. One way or another. Or else!

In school, she excells in Math. Nothing interesting about her grade school days. She's was inflicted with Hepatitis and got cured. That's it.

High school. Not much either.

When she started college, her brother pays for her tuition but unfortunately, he asked her to stop for one semester because their mother had a cataract and needs an operation.

She rebelled against his brother. She got hired at a French fries stand. Courted by a bagger working at the grocery store next to the stand. One day, he brought her to his province. They got drunk. Brought her to his bedroom. She got pregnant after that.

Her father wants the guy to marry her daughter because he got her pregnant. Both parties made the arrangements for the wedding. They lived together. She had a rough time during her pregnancy. He only gives her P20-50 a day for the entire day. She walks to her sister's house to eat and rests before going back to their apartment two kilometers away, so her sister decided to take them in and live with them because she pity her little sister's condition and situation.

She goes back to work at the French fries stand while she's pregnant. He gave her no choice!

When her brother found out about the pregnancy, he was so furious to the point that he kicked her sister but calmed himself so that he won't beat the shit out of her.

The two had a church wedding at her province in Pangasinan.

She had a son two months later. Mhike Justine Dave.

After two months of taking care of her son, she left Dave to her parents. She went back to work. She worked at SM City Baguio then tried to take an exam at the University of the Cordilleras as a working student. She passed. She's back to school, finally!

And then... She met Hans two years later and her life changed drastically.
