"And so, we end up all the way back at the same classroom which we started." I explained how the school was basically a giant rectangle so, if you stayed on the same floor, you would eventually end up in the same place. "Do you think you know where everything is now?"
The girl shrugged, "the gist of it."
I looked back at the girl, her head was still pointed to the cold floor and her golden eyes were still hidden beneath shadows. I sighed at the thought of seeing her still so upset. I wondered if it had anything to do with Defoko making that comment about living with Haku.
"Hey, Neru?" I began, my voice getting a bit quiet as I took in a deep breathe, "about what Defoko said... I'm sure she didn't mean to be rude... I mean, it's just her natural instincts and personality to respond that way." My head lowered, "so, please forgive her..."
"Huh?" Neru shifted positions, grasping my hand a bit harder, "I...I didn't really think that much of it... Everyone seems to think of Haku in that way..."
"Everyone...?" I echoed, my eyes traveling down to our hands that still hadn't let go of each other.
"Everyone refers to her as a drunk..." She paused, her heels lightly tapping together, "So, I sort of got used to the comments about her."
I grew silent, unsure what to say to comfort the girl. She looked even more depressed than she was a moment ago. My attempt to cheer her up took a dramatic backfire.
"A-anyways," the same girl choked, looking up at me for a quick moment, before she looked down a hallway, "we should go eat lunch."
"Lunch!? Oh! I completely forgot about that!" I finally let go of the girl's hand as I dug out my phone from my book bag. I found it after a minute and flipped it open, noticing the time, "crap. We only have fifteen minutes left. I'm so sorry it took so long."
"It's no problem..." She answered, shrugging once more, her feet seemed glued to the same place, not even shifting an inch. "It was my fault, really. After all, I'm the one who asked you to give a tour."
"Oh! Hey, look! It's the drunkard's pet!" A voice called from down the hall, causing my head to turn. I rolled my eyes as I saw a different blonde haired girl approaching. Her eyes were a crystal blue, the kind that could freeze you with just a glance. The girl made her way over, a click of people following her while they softly giggled. She flipped a long strand of hair over her shoulder as she stood between me and Neru. The girl with the blue eyes looked at me, a smirk playing across her face, "oh, so you made a 'friend', did you?"
"No...She's just..." her voice shook as she spoke, "...A classmate."
A classmate?
Why am I just a bit hurt by that statement? We're past 'classmates' aren't we? I mean, afterall, I was being as kind and accepting as I possibly could... I even gave her a tour.
"No, I'm not." I crossed my arms, "I'm her friend, Hatsune Miku, and you are?"
"Hatsune Miku?" She echoed, chuckling, "aw, defensive aren't we?"
"You never answered my question."
"Fine. I'm Lily, problem?" She snapped back, turning away from me and towards the other golden haired girl, "now, if you don't mind leaving, I have... Something to deal with. So... Get lost."
"It's hard to get lost when the entire school is just a giant square." I rolled my eyes at her comment, wondering if she was purposely trying to pick a fight.
"Ha. Funny." She copied my actions, rolling her eyes as well as she grabbed one of Neru's wrists. She flinched to her touch but didn't object. Lily then grabbed her other one with the same hand, raising them above her head.
