Ch.7

In the Goodness Class
The next morning, Fairy Godmother taught Ash and her friends about goodness.

She stood in front of a blackboard that had WELCOME COME TO REMEDIAL GOODNESS! written on it, along with phrases like MOUTHS ARE FOR SMILING, NOT FOR BITING and SHARING IS CARING. Ash and her friends were the only kids enrolled in the class.

They were downright miserable.

Fairy Godmother said "If someone hands you a crying baby, do you: A. curse it, B. lock it in a tower, C. give it a bottle, or D. carve out its heart?"

Evie raised her hand enthusiastically.

Fairy Godmother said "Evie!"

Evie asked "What was the second one?"

Fairy Godmother said "Oh, okay... Anyone else?"

Ash, who was plotting a plan how to get the wand, was called on.

She looked up and said "C. Give it a bottle,"

Fairy Godmother said with a smile, "Correct, again."

Stefan sighed.

Carlos said "You are on fire, babe!"

Lena said "Yeah!"

Ash said "Just pick the one that doesn't sound like any fun,"

Her friends oohed.

Mal said "Do you guys get it now?"

Evie said "Yeah, that makes so much sense," as she starting to twirl her hair.

A girl in a pale blue dress with a big blue bow on her head entered the class. She cast a frightened look toward Ash and her friends and scurried toward Fairy Godmother at the blackboard. The girl held a clipboard in front of Fairy Godmother.

Fairy Godmother said "Hello, dear one,"

The girl said "Hi. You need to sign off on early dismissal for the coronation,"

Mal stopped sketching the wand to study her.

Fairy Godmother said "Everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane," as she signed the form.

Jane whispered "Mom!"

Jay and Carlos exchanged looks to Stefan and Rick.

Fairy Godmother returned the clipboard to her daughter. She said "That's okay. Jane, this is everyone." while turning Jane to face Ash and her friends.

Jane gave a feeble wave and said "Hi. That's okay. Don't mind me. As you were," while bowing and rushing out of the room.

Mal smirked to herself.

Fairy Godmother said "Forgive Jane. I may have told her a few too many bedtime stories about your... parents." She cleared her throat, "Let's continue." She went back to the blackboard and said "You find a coal of poison. Do you: A. put it in the Kong's wine, B. paint it on an Apple, or C. turn it over to the proper authorities?"

Six hands shot up.

Carlos and Jay fought to be picked.

Carlos said "Ooh! Ooh!"

Fairy Godmother said "Jay,"

Jay said coolly, "C. You turn it over to the proper authorities,"

Carlos said "I was gonna say that!"

Jay laughed mockingly and said "But I said it first!" He grabbed Carlos' head and put him in a headlock. Ash was shocked and blinked many times while Lena laughed.

Carlos said "Ow!"

Jay said "Who said it first? Who said it first?"

Evie put on lip gloss in her mirror and Mal sighed. Fairy Godmother said "Boys," then said more loudly, "Boys!"

They froze.

She said "I am going to encourage you to use that energy on the tourney field,"

Carlos said "Oh, no, that's okay. Whatever that is, we'll pass."

But before he, Jay, Rick, and Stefan knew it, they were on the grassy green tourney field just outside the school. With Ash and Lena cheering for them of course.

After that, Mal, Ash, Evie, and Lena parted ways at Mal's locker and Ash's locker, which has EVIL LIVES spray-painted on it----- a little something Mal and Ash did to make herself feel more  at home.

Mal dug around in her locker and Ash places a picture of Carlos and her back at home at their 5th date. They both heard loud, obnoxious laughter and looked up to see Audrey and Chad. Audrey wore punk sunglasses and a pale pink sweater. Chad wore his letter jacket. Ben appeared behind them in a smart-looking jacket.

Chad told Ben, "Those kids are trouble," while pointing to Mal and Ash.

Audrey nodded and shoot Mal and Ash a particularly nasty look.

Mal and Ash turned away and tried to ignore them.

Ben said "Come on, Chad. Give them a chance."

Audrey took Ben's hands in hers and said "Ugh! No offence, Bennybear----- you're just too trusting," with a big smile. Then continued, "Look, I know your mom fell in love with a big nasty beast who turned out to be a prince. But in my mom's story, the evil fairy was just the evil fairy." She nodded at Mal and whispered"That purple girl's mother,"

Ben said "I think you're wrong about them,"

Audrey sighed, let him go, and walked off. Ash gathered her books and whispered "Bye Mal." Mal said "Bye,"

Ash walked off to her class and someone said "Hey!"

Ash straddle a bit and turned around to see Carlos.

She laughed and said "Carlos! You scared me!"

Carlos chuckled and said "Sorry, just trying to suprised my girlfriend. So what so you have now?"

Ash said "I have history,"

Carlos frowned and said "I have language arts."

Ash said "That's okay. I'll see you in chemistry."

Carlos said sarcastically, "Fine, but you'll still think about me." Ash laughed and kissed him. Their lips were in sync for a while until they pulled away.

They hugged and parted ways. Ash walked to her history class and Jane walked out of the girls bathroom with wavy brown curls.

Ash was surprised by Jane's new look and turned around to see Mal.

Ash said "Did you just change Jane's hair?"

Mal smirked and said "Yea, it's part of our big plan to steal the wand. Don't worry, I tricked her into telling her mom if she does break out the old wand and invite me."

Ash smiled and said "Well, Mal, you are rotten to the core."

Mal laughed and they both went to their class separately.
