BEST I COULD COME UP WITH! :)
Chapter 9
Ross’sPOV
I didn’t know whether to be happy that Natalie had distracted Jenna from the talk I had planned or to be annoyed that she had Jenna all to herself. Jenna was MY mate, I didn’t want to share, even if it was only my sister.
I paced the room, I had called Nat a few minutes ago and she had told me that she’d get Jenna home soon, that they were just shopping. I had told her through clenched teeth how worried I had been when I came to the room Jenna was to be staying in to find them both gone. I groaned as I remembered the scene I had made.
“Mother, Mother! Jenna’s gone,” I shouted as I sprinted into the living area.
My mother, Renee, was sitting on the couch, reading a magazine. She raised her eyebrow as she took in my distressed state.
“Calm down Ross, they went out about three hours ago”, she said as her eyes lowered back down to her magazine.
“What! Three hours ago! Where! Why wasn’t I notified of this!” I practically screamed.
Will, who also lives in this house, sauntered by,
“Well someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning”, Will said trying to hide a smile”.
“Shut it Will”, I snapped, glaring at him.
He put his hands up in surrender.
“Ok, ok no need for a hissy fit”, he said grinning and then walked out of the room.
I glared at the retreating back of my best friend. Mom sighed.
“He’s right you know, there’s no need for a fit, they just went shopping”.
I glared at her, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“Yeah well, someone could have told me”.
“Do you really have to know her every move, give her some freedom honey”, she said.
“Mom, you know well enough what she is to me, if anything happened to her, that’s it for me, I’m done, there’s no other girl if she dies, no back up” I said defeatedly, my head down.
There was silence for a moment before I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“I know sweetie, I know, but you can’t be with her all the time, she has no idea what you are, she’s not going to understand why you’re always there, why you follow her”, mom said quietly.
“I have to be with her mom, you heard what happened when I let her out of my sight for one minute”, I said, not looking her in the eye.
There was a pause for a second.
“Yes, I know but honey, that could happen to anyone, it was just bad luck, and it turned out alright didn’t it? I mean he’s gone now, it was just one of those once in a blue moon occurrences,” she said reassuringly.
I looked up at her,
“Thanks mom”.
I shook my head. Mom was right. I was way too protective of her. The incident had just been a once in a blue moon occurrence. It could have been anyone, Jenna had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The sound of a car crunching on gravel brought me back from my thoughts. I glanced out the window. They were back.
I took a deep breath.
