The weather had cleared up, instead of thick thunder clouds the horizon was coated in shades of orange and pink as the sun set and welcomed the blinking of a dozen stars. Lara looked at herself in the mirror, she hadn't seen herself out of the earthly shades of brown, blue and grey in so long. To be fair she hadn't seen her face all made up in so long that she hardly recognized the woman looking back at her. She twirled her hands to look at the bright red nail polish coating her slightly long nails. Her dress ended inches above her knees in thin lace as a vertical slit cut up towards her hip. The dress fit her figure perfectly as it shrouded her arms up to her elbow in the same elegant black lace as the rest of the dress. Her skin could only be seen through the fabric over her shoulders and arms. Lara reached down to make sure the straps on the heels were tightly around her leg in case she had to start running early, not that she'd keep them once the job truly started. At long lost her eyes got lost in the auburn hair cascading over her shoulders and down her back, how long ago had she looked so natural, so much like her mother. A hazel covered her eyelids as thick lashes hid her solemn eyes and bright crimson covered her full lips. This was what everyone expected from her social status, but this was not who she truly was.

It was time, Lara grabbed her hand held purse before making her way towards the staircase. She took two deep breath before meeting the two pairs of eyes watching her curiously from the bottom of the staircase. Winston smiled brightly at the woman he helped raise, Zip on the other hand audibly whistled at his friend/employer who couldn't help but chuckle. His eyes couldn't leave her for a second, his mouth agape. There was no doubt that his employer was one of the most beautiful woman he'd ever met but he never had feelings towards her, not like Alistair. Instead he saw her as more of a sister figure, but a gorgeous one at that. But both Winston and Zip knew this was not what Lara was about, ever, she could never be the woman the press wanted her to be. Lara belonged out there, between the unopened tombs, uncovering the history hidden beneath the thick layers of dust and broken theories.

"You look drop dead gorgeous girl" Zip complimented her holding out his slightly folded arm to help lead her towards the walled off area he called his own.

"Breathtaking Miss. Croft" she allowed Winston to take her hand in his and give it a gentle caring kiss. He was after all there for her even before her parents left her life so unsuspectingly, he was the one person who never left her. Not even when his own life had been at risk so many times for the mistakes she had made.

"Thank you" Lara said meeting both men's eyes. Zip lifted a small USB drive and held it out to Lara who accepted and stuffed it inside the small pouch she put inside a concealed pouch in the seam of the dress.

"It'll get past security don't worry and" Zip turned all the way around to take a small envelope off a nearby table "your invitation" Lara took it thankfully with a small smile and looked at the fancy font her name was printed in on the envelope itself.

"How on earth did you even get this?" Lara asked him truly amused, in between her memorizing of all the guard patrols and routes she had to take she hadn't even considered how she was going to get her hands on one of the selective invites.

"Does it matter?" He asked her truthfully, a mysterious grin spreading on his face. Lara shook her head with a soft "thanks Zip" before turning on her heel and stepping back outside towards the fireplace. Her eyes drifted upwards towards the replaced portrait of her mother and father. Their eyes dull and lifeless against the canvas, would they even be proud of her?

Little did Lara know that the father figure she had was more than proud of her. Winston watched her closely when she wasn't paying attention, he knew what hells Lara had been through and survived, he also knew that if anyone can be the hero that she could. Lara had killed an Atlantean God, she's taken a quest and found Excalibur, one of the most powerful items in her own vault, Lara had seen her own mother's mangled corpse trying to kill her and even though she broke she put herself together.
