Maddie Grace's pov
I had vowed to never say that name again. That was the name of an afraid, hurt, and alone little girl. It's not who I am anymore. I hated that name.
I had changed my name when I was 8. I didn't want to be a part in of my parents anymore. I made Em change hers too, to help free us from our past.
I had just walked home from the coffee shop and I ran up the stairs to find Emma Paige.
"I said it, Em," I told her as soon as I saw her.
She last ghee back in response, "no you didn't."
"I'm getting adopted... I said it."
"Wait... You're leaving me?"
"Well the man who's going to take me said he had a friend who was looking to adopt as well. So I thought if they're friends then we would still be able to see each other and-"
"STOP!"
Emma Paige's pov
I couldn't believe what I was hearing! She was just going to leave me after we spent our whole lives together!
"I don't want to be adopted," I admit.
"Why not?"
"I like staying here with you."
The truth is she's the only one who's been there for me no matter what. I just don't want to lose her... She's my sister. But I'm wasn't going to tell her that.
"Em, can I tell you something?"
"What?"
"It felt good to say that horrible name to someone. I've never really opened up to anyone... Other than you, and it felt good to show someone else my past without feeling judged."
"I can't say it."
"Go on you can say it."
"P-P-Patterson."
