"Where am I?" I try to piece together the events of last night but come up with darkness.
"I found you on the river bank, delirious and barely breathing. You kept saying 'Megan I'm sorry. I'll avenge you' and 'Megan, this is my fault'" I sit up and take in the situation. The girl had saved me, in a sense...
"Thank you for your help, but I really must go..." She frowns as she takes in my words. "I'm sorry but my journey... it takes me away from this place. I will return, for I am forever in your debt." I get up to leave and she wraps her arms around me
"Please don't forget me..." She squeezes tighter and I realize that she really didn't want me to leave. It was like she was almo-- "If you leave he'll come back... I couldn't deal with that.." I look at her and feel her pain.
"who? Who are you talking about Imani?" She lets go and sits on the edge of the bed and slumps over.
"My brother... He hits me, and when he came home a few days ago and saw you and your weapons, he left. I know if you leave he'll come back and I'll be hurt again. Look I know your some type of hero I guess... And there is lots of crime here.... Maybe you can... you know... stay and clean up things?" I stare at her amused. I take her hands and sit her down on the edge of the bed.
"I can't live here... with you. But when I find a hideout you can stay with me... if you make yourself useful." I stand and pull her into an embrace, "I'm only one call away..." I let her go and jump out the window and set out to find the perfect residence.
