"So, Alissa, how old are you?" Eugene suddenly asked me.

"16." I lazily answered.

Honestly, I feel so tired. We've only just finished shopping and now we're at a restaurant, waiting for our food we ordered to be served.

Shopping with Eunice was a bad idea. I badly need to remind myself next time to never go out with her again. I mean, she was going from store to store. Tailing her was too exhausting.

"Cool. We're the same age. When is your birthday?" Eugene asked again.

I've just noticed, Eugene's been really persistent about talking to me since earlier. I think he's just being kind.

"January 20."

"Oh, mine's on October 13." He smiled. "So, what's your favorite color?"

"Really? Favorite color, Eugene?" Eunice butts in. "You're so lame. Like, ever. And when I say ever, I mean, forever."

And here goes another wave of bickering.

Eugene stared at her in all seriousness. "You know, that really didn't had to come out from you. Just saying."

"Excuse me? Are you trying to say that I'm lame and you're a dork?"

"Dork? Oh c'mon. We both know how popular I am with everyone, little girl."

"Yeah, right. Talk to my ass."

"That, if you have though."

"Jerk!"

"You love me still."

"I'd love to kill you right now."

"Handsome guys are very rare nowadays. They are being labeled endangered specie now. Therefore, I'm endangered. You can't kill me, Eunice. It would be against the law."

"Ew." Eunice grimaced. "Go eat poop you conceited jerk."

Eugene just laughed at her.

The both of them continued with their arguement, and I was just there, silently hearing them out.

After a few minutes, our foods were finally served to our table.

"So, do you have a boyfriend?" Eugene asked me out of the blue.

After we've finished eating, Eunice excused herself for toilet.

"No." I answered.

"Really?" Must be my imagination but I saw his eyes shine. " How about exes?" He asked another one.

Seriously, talking about stuffs like this with a guy or even with anyone just feels weird. So I shrugged, hoping he wouldn't push the topic on.

Eugene chuckled. "You know what, you're very pretty, Alissa."

I frowned. Well, that was kind of irrelevant thing to say.

"Uhm," I paused. "Thanks."

Frankly saying, I was hesitant to even accept that compliment. I wasn't being humble. I just didn't like being complimented.

"And you're pretty interesting too." He told me.

Okay. I'm not going to say anything anymore. He kinds of just being random.

Unfortunately, the silence which usually made me comfortable, made everything awkward for me this time. This is because he stares at me deeply as if he's boring his eyes onto mine. I guess  he just ran out of words to say We just looked at each other.

After a while, he suddenly smirked. "I like you, Alissa." He broke out. "What do you say about going out with me?"

I never felt so much relieved this whole time until the moment he finally spoke. It's actually better that someone atleast talks in a group, sometimes.

I'm actually glad too to hear that he likes me as a person. But what do I say about leaving the restaurant together with him?

"I think it would be better to just wait for Eunice. I mean, it would be rude if we leave her here alone without even saying anything."

With my answer, Eugene looked strangely surprised. What? Was he not expecting that I'd wait for Eunice even after she made me feel exhausted today? I'm not that kind of person. Eunice is still my cousin and whether I like it or not, I'm going to be stuck with her. Besides, we live in the same house.

"I'm here!" Eunice's voice rang through my ear. I looked at her. "C'mon. We still have time to shop more." Eunice happily said.

Oh, shit. I should just have gone out with Eugene.
