I looked around me, in awe and shock at the scene around me.

Tall magnificent trees with leaves of all shades of red, orange, and yellow surrounded and fluttered around me. There were elegant buildings everywhere and the sun shone down, coating everything in a brilliant gold hue.

Where am I? Everything’s so beautiful...

I made my way down a staircase made of pure marble, but softly so that my footsteps didn’t even make a noise.

I felt as if I needed to stay quiet and just enjoy the scene. I lightly traced the delicate patterns engraved on the side of the staircase, admiring it’s elegance and intricate design.

“To live in a place like this would be amazing...” I softly said to myself. I closed my eyes and breathedin the fresh, clean air, feeling like my spirit was being lifted every moment I spent here.

I heard a rustling of leaves to my left and I quickly spun around, upset that someone had to interrupt my inner calm.

I spotted a tall, broad-shouldered figure staring at me, who, when he saw me looking at him, quickly turned around to sprint away.

“Hey, wait! Who are you?” I found myself running after him. His face was hidden by a hood and cloak, his footsteps light and movement agile. I was soon running out of breath,

I was not an athletic person.

"Wait! Please stop! Where am I?” I asked one more time, desperate to know the answer.

He turned around and looked me straight in the eye, which stunned me. He had unnaturally bright blue eyes that were large and solemn. I stopped in my tracks, stunned. He then whipped right around and started sprinting away.

“No wait! Why are you running?! Where am I?!” I started running again, mentally face-palming myself for being so stupid and not taking advantage of him stopping, but my foot got caught on a twisted tree root and I did a face-plant into the soft earthy floor.

I shot up in my bed, sweaty and discombobulated, and checked my clock.

Great, 4:15 in the morning.

I normally went to bed early but this was definitely not even close to enough sleep. I groaned and flopped back onto my pillow.

I tossed and turned trying to get back to sleep and back to the dream. As I was tossing and turning, I tried to remember what happened in my dream that left me so breathless, so in awe, and so...sweaty.

All I could remember were eyes. They were the prettiest shade of blue...
