Chapter Three

With a start I woke up a second time, only to be surrounded by ugly wallpaper and the gross, nasally smell of the nurse's office. I tried to sit up, but again had intense pounding in my head.

Groaning, I tried to ask the nurse What happened?

But it came out more like, "Unnnnhnn..."

"Alright, honey, I'm gonna have you lay back down and take some of this aspirin. You were in homeroom and you just passed out cold...can you tell me what happened?" Handing me some aspirin and a small cup with water, she gave me a worried look. Man, this was a nice nurse!

I looked at her, studying her features. She was actually quite beautiful, with soft brown hair and baby blue eyes. She had just a few stress wrinkles, but being a high school nurse, the office was always filled with whining, complaining underclass-men...so who could blame her?

"Well...I was sitting and joking around with my friend Lexie..."

"Lexie Cross?"

I nodded my head and continued, "Well we were joking around...and I saw this bright white light that caused an intense pounding in my head and....well I don't remember much after that."

The nurse nodded, studying me intently, "Are you sure you don't remember anything after that? You just completely blacked out?"

I hesitated, "Yes...I just remember waking up here and uhh...yeah." I don't know why, but I didn't feel like telling her about my dream...I mean. Everyone dreams, right? My dream felt..special. Private.

"Please, take the aspirin honey it'll make you feel much better." She ordered, once she saw that the two little pills were still laying in the palm of my hand

"Oh..." I looked down at the pills, and I realized that I didn't have a headache anymore. Plus aspirin made me sick...as did most pain-relievers. "Sorry, my parents aren't okay with me taking pills handed out at school. Safety precaution." I smiled weakly as I lied and handed the water back and the small little pills.

The nurse gave me a look that said she didn't quite believe me, but she shook her head, "Very well honey, you can go back to class now. Which class are you in now? I'll write you a note." asked the Nurse.

I glanced at the clock, 12:07.

12:07?! I had been passed out for nearly 3 hours!

The trip in my dream...to the fountain. That nearly took an estimated 3 hours.

Just a strange coincidence.

"I'm in Psychology right now with Ms. Pearson, but i'm actually feeling quite dizzy...Can I have my friend Lexie drive me home?"

"Lexie is currently at the hospital."

"What??!?!" I looked at her in horror. How could Lexie go from perfectly fine to in the hospital in 3 hours...at school?!

"She blacked out just a few minutes after you, falling down the stairs. She may have a sprained neck and a few concussions...You got lucky."

I looked down, "I...I have to go, please excuse me I have to get to my friend in the hospital..." I rushed out of the nurse's office, glad I still had my car keys in my pocket.

Running out of the building and to my parking spot, I saw a tall guy standing there, leaning against the hood of my car.

That tall figure looks a lot like...the one I saw in my dream.

I rubbed my eyes and saw that he was gone. Or...maybe he wasn't there at all.

I swear I'm going crazy.
