It had been four years since Haru had rescued Celeste, and she had blossomed in more ways than one. Not only had her health improved greatly, but her night terrors were also starting to cease, going from every night to about three times a week. Celeste knew that her caretakers were relieved, even if they never mentioned it. She had also matured faster physically than they had expected. Despite all his time searching, Haru never found where her family was. Celeste had long since stopped caring, but he was insistent that finding her family was important. Even so, Celeste was more than happy to continue living with him and the Undertaker. Especially since Undertaker let her join in on terrifying the customers. Her abilities were helpful in this area, but they were also growing exponentially, which caused many issues when learning to control them. The book she had found was helpful, but there was only so much it could teach her without help.
"Celeste!" A voice snapped, breaking Celeste from her musings, "Pay attention."
Celeste rolled her eyes and glared at the bespectacled reaper, who was teaching a lesson she had learned from the book over a year ago. "Why should I pay attention when I already know what you are teaching, William? It's just a waste of time."
The man sighed, using his scythe to readjust his glasses. "Learned or not it is still important. If anything, it will help you to listen when being courted." He said, giving her a once over. Celeste had chosen to bind her chest and wear a suit that day, much to his chagrin.
Celeste snorted, "Who is going to court a woman who dresses like a man? I see no reason to practice for an event that will never come."
William pinched is nose, "Nonetheless, it is still important for your future. There are men out there who will court you, improper or not. Also, these lessons are important for- "
"Ensuring that I am not easily tricked or killed due to my rarity and power. There are many beings interested in harnessing it and who believe in silly rumors that aren't true, such as gaining my abilities via eating my flesh." Celeste recited, "I read these facts ages ago in my book, man. Believe me, it's fine."
"Celeste you are not to use that demon's filthy way of speaking in my presence." William said, glaring. "I will admit that you seem to know about the dangers well enough, despite not seeming to understand quite how much danger you are really in."
"If you say so," Celeste said, getting up to stretch.
William closed the book he had been reading from and turned towards the door. "I suppose I will leave for the day, I will be back next week, and you had better start listening then." With that, he left, the closing door the only sign that William had been there at all.
Celeste sighed and dropped back down into her seat. Something about William always made her want to misbehave. Shrugging, Celeste pulled her black book from the desk she was seated at and had just flipped it open to the page that explained how to use an ability she had been struggling with when the front bell chimed, signifying a new customer. Grinning, Celeste stood up and shadow walked into the wall, aiming to fall from the front room ceiling and startle Undertakers guests.
She landed on her feet right in front of what looked to be a boy her age. Celeste was pleased to note the surprise in his one blue eye as she stood and bowed. Taking note of the eyepatch, fancy clothes, and cane, as well as the blue hair that seemed to match her own, Celeste surmised that this must be the new Earl, the young head of the Phantomhive household. She also took note of the raven-haired man next to him, a demon dressed as... a butler? How unusual.
