Chapter 5

Emily's P.O.V

The rest of the school day went by slow and once the final bell rang I didn't hesitate to rush straight to my locker. In the process of getting my stuff I noticed a note stuck to my Chemistry book.

Meet me at the park at midnight and I'll explain everything.

"What you got over there?" Luke said startling me. "Oh god Luke you scared me" I said shoving the little note in my bag. "And it was just a note from Leah saying thank you, she borrowed my chemistry book last week" I lied.

"Okay..anyways ready to go?" he said stretching out a hand for me to grab. I quickly shut my locker and grabbed his hand.

-------Skip car ride---------

After picking up Abbie at school, I dropped Luke at his house, I texted Leah and Jackson telling them that I wasn't feeling okay to hang out. Which I lied about as you know.

"Hey Emily?" Abbie yelled from downstairs where she was doing her homework. "What!" I got out of bed and headed downstairs to see what she wanted. "Can I stay at Samantha's while mom and dad are gone please please?" She said begging.
"Woah Abbie chill, I mean as long as Samantha's mom is okay with it-"
"I talked to her and she said I can stay as long as I need" she said jumping in her seat.
"I guess that okay but we have to ask mom and da-"
"No need to, I already called them and they said it's fine!" She cut me off again.

But this might be a good thing because if she's not here I won't have to sneak out when I'm going to meet Shawn tonight.
"Okay fine you can go, but I'm driving you there and I will be coming to visit you everyday after school." Her face lit up and she jumped up from her sit and hugged my legs. "Thank you! I promise I'll be good" she gathered up her things and ran up to pack her things.

I chuckled at how energetic she is for a seven year old girl. "Hurry I have to drive you there before it gets dark" I looked at the time and saw that it was nearly 6 which means it would be getting dark soon.

She came down with her bag in within seconds nearly tripping on the way at how exited she was.
I grabbed my jacket and my car keys. "You have everything you need?" I asked slipping on a pair of boots. "Yeah!"
"Okay let's go then" I said making sure to lock the door behind me and hoping in the car.

After dropping off Abbie at Samantha's I passed through the supermarket to get a few groceries using some of the money my parents left us with.

On my way to the my favorite aisle the ice cream aisle, I noticed a very familiar figure standing by the chocolate mint flavored ice cream, my favorite.

Is he following me now?

Me being my stupid self I decided to turn on my heels and skip the ice cream but that was a bad idea.

"Emily stop" Shawn said making me stop dead in my tracks. "H-how did you know it was me?" I asked not bothering to look at him.

I could hear his footsteps get closer and closer. "I knew you'd be here Emily" he said now standing in front of me.
"What so now you're following me, I thought we'd meet at midnight!" I snapped walking to the cash register to pay for my items. "No I'm not-"
"Well then how the hell do you explain the fact that you knew I'd be here?"
"Look I can't explain here okay? Can we go somewhere more private please?"

"Ma'am that'll be 50.99" I gladly payed her and exited the supermarket with Shawn behind me.
"Fine but you're telling me everything, now get in before someone see's me and starts to assume things" I said putting the groceries in the back.

"So how have you been?" He asked trying to make small talk because me and him both knew how awkward this whole thing really was. "Okay" I said pulling into the driveway and killing the engine.

"Help me with this will you?" I said motioning to the groceries I had just purchased. He quickly nodded his head and unbuckled his seat belt. "Of course" I handed him one of the bags and I took the rest.
