I slowly began to rise to my feet. It wasn't easy, being in burning pain and all. My blurry vision began to clear up and I opened my purse to see what happened. I stared into my hand mirror, but I didn't see my usual dark brown eyes. Instead, I saw small, narrow emerald-green ones looking back. In my head I thought Sonic, you came? Nope. I'm on my way! Well then, who's-.Uh-oh. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Sonic, I know you love pranks, but this is SO not funny!! Take it easy on the ears! What's wrong? I thought you'd like it. THIS????!!!!!! I looked down at my new sneakers, which went from purple and black Filas to red hi-tops with white straps and gold buckles. My clothes melted into blue skin. My stomach became a bare peach oval. My arms turned peach and my hands grew huge and had on enormous gloves. I crossed my eyes and saw a thin, long shiny black nose. I was just about to stand up straight when I fell back from my head size. Geez Sonic, how do you keep your head up? Hey! It's the truth. I had one more test: if I had spikes, I knew this was really happening. I lifted my hand and felt the back of my head. My fingers rustled against six hard but movable...quills. My back too. Two unmovable spikes on my back. Why did you do this, Sonic? Because surprisingly, I might not make it there in time. I'm trying to figure out a way to cross the ocean. So I'll be there until I get there. I don't sound like you. I'll do the talking. Just leave it to me. Biggest problem: I DON'T RUN AS FAST AS YOU!!!!! Just what I was about to talk about. Run as fast as you can. But I- Trust me! Just run! Fine. I started running as fast as possible, but I stayed at my fastest human speed. It's not working, Sonic! Try again. Imagine that you're running beside me, but there's one pro- I imagined the real Sonic was running and I had to catch up to help him defeat Eggman. The world began flying by even faster than before. I felt so free. I ran a few laps around the school football field. I tried to stop, and I fell flat on my face. You gotta practice stopping. That's what I was trying to tell ya. No kidding. I practiced running and stopping and managed to get it after twelve tries. I checked my phone. Only seven minutes left until race time! I asked Sonic ever so sweetly, SONIIIIIIIIC!! HURRY UP AND GET OVER HERE!!!!! I'm trying! That's when I had another realization: what if my friends wonder where I've gone off to? I called Sonic again. Sonic, what if my friends need me? You can change form. Oh good! Wait, how? You'll have to figure that out. I just ran back to the gym. Mario was out front. "So-a Sonic. I see-a your little fan has-a told you about the race." That's when I felt my mouth moving and I heard Sonic's voice coming out of my mouth. Bring it on, plumber! It's on like Donkey Dong! "He'll-a be here soon!" That's my arm shook his. In my head I saw Sonic pretending to shake someone's hand. He went back inside and Terryn came out. My voice returned and I said, "Terryn, I need your help. Fast!"
