"Get away from the window, Wren." Mum spoke, but I wasn't listening. I watched as a group of men ran towards the wolves, ready to fight. My eyes widened as their bodies collided, the sounds of painful screams and angered growls leaving the mass of flesh and fur.

My arm was gripped and I was tugged from the window. "Close the curtains, Derek." Marcus spoke, keeping me by his side. Derek quickly shut the curtains before walking over to his mother. "There are wolves out there." I spoke, looking up at Marcus.

"I thought wolves stayed away from us." Marcus nodded. "They do. Something is wrong for them to be attacking us. They've broken the treaty. Chosen war over peace." He said. I looked down at the ground, my bare feet making indents in the soft carpet.

The front door in the foyer was slammed open, making everyone jump and turn towards the door to the foyer. My eyes widened as a large man walked in, brown eyes and short brown hair. His eyes locked on mine and my breath hitched.

"Mine."

My eyes widened considerably as the word left his lips, growling it out and sending shivers down my spine. Marcus grabbed my arm, moving me to the couch where Derek was standing before turning to the wolf. A low growl left the wolf's lips before he stepped forward. "Give her to me." He demanded. My heart raced.

When I prayed the ceremony would be interrupted, this wasn't what I had prayed for. Marcus let out a warning sneer, but the wolf ignored it, stepping even closer. Derek gripped my arm, moving me behind him. It caused the wolf to snap, running towards Derek. Marcus moved in front of him nimbly, sending the palm of his hand into the wolf's chest.

It did nothing however, and I watched in shock as the wolf gripped Marcus by his shirt, throwing him into the wall before grabbing Derek. I gasped loudly, turning to where mum was, and seeing her eyes were just as wide. The wolf slammed Derek into the wall, letting him fall to the floor before stalking towards me.

I hadn't moved, hadn't tried to get away as the wolf attacked Marcus, or Derek. My upper arm was gripped and I looked up at the wolf, his face brooding. "Sit, and don't move." He ordered, pushing me onto the couch before walking towards my mum. My eyes widened as she was gripped roughly before being tugged to the closet door.

What was he doing? Once my mother was inside the closet, he shut it and locked it. I could hear shouts and pounding as she fought to get out. "Wren! Wren run!" I brought my knees to my chest, keeping my dress down as I watched Derek try getting up.

Marcus hadn't moved since the wolf had thrown him, and for a moment, fear tugged at my chest. Was he dead? The wolf sent a fist to Derek's face, knocking him out cold before turning to me. My heart sped up as he knelt before me. "Mine." He growled, making my skin crawl. He pulled me from the couch, holding my arm with one hand as he tugged me out of the room. My eyes stayed glued on Marcus for any sign of life until I could no longer see him.

Outside was much worse. Bodies littered the ground, both wolf and fox. Blood soiled the ground. I gasped lightly, my feet slowing as I took in the damage. I had never seen blood like this. Bodies ripped to pieces, chests ripped open and heads missing from bodies. I felt bile rise in my throat. I was tugged forward by the wolf. My eyes never leaving the sight before me.

I knew not everyone was dead, but the death before me, seemed impossibly high. My eyes caught the dull green I had grown to adore. My dad lay motionless just a few yards from me. His throat slashed wide open, blood circling him. Tears pooled in my eyes before I pulled my arm from the man's grip, falling to my knees as I threw up.

My insides hurt as nothing came up. I continued dry heaving before I was grabbed and pulled to my feet by the wolf. I sobbed, not having the strength to fight him off as he dragged me towards the woods. The image of my dad's once bright green eyes now dull flashed across my mind's eye, replaying his image over and over again. I couldn't get it out of my head as I was tugged away from everything I knew. From Marcus, and everyone else who died.
