A deep throbbing at the base of my skull woke me, and I knew I had been crying. The feeling of dried tears on my cheeks. I sat up, still in Liam's bed. I pulled myself out of the bed, looking down at the wrinkled navy blue silk dress. I had showered twice, and been forced to wear it over and over again.
I ran my fingers through my hair, pulling it up into a pony tail and gripping the rubber band around my wrist. Once finished, I huffed in determination. I was not going to stay here. Looking down at my bare feet, I wriggled my toes, a pang of sadness in my heart. The elders had painted my nails. They'd done such a good job. I wonder how they were doing with Marcus. I wonder what my family was doing.
I pulled the door to Liam's room open, walking down the hall on silent feet. This time when I heard something in the kitchen, I kept going, moving silently to the front door and onto the porch.
The sun was just on the tree line, dew still covering the grass. I shivered as I stepped into the wet grass, walking from the house with my eyes and ears open for anyone who'd be watching. You can do this Wren. I chanted to myself.
I was quick to shift, not needing to undress due to how small I was. The blue silk landed over my head and I shook it out, the orange fur a big contrast to everything around me. I smelled the air for any signs of predators, but found none. Must be out.
Taking my chance, I bolted towards the woods. Towards where my family and friends were. I leapt over fallen logs and crawled under large roots, the forest making me feel alive again.
Until larger, heavier thudding caused me to look behind me. Fear zinged through my heart. A wolf was following me. Just one from the sound of it. I growled in frustration, knowing he could smell me.
Before I had time to reroute, a large wolf pounced. I let out a gekker as he landed on my small frame, kicking my back legs under me as I fought my way from under the large wolf.
A deep, guttural growl left his chest before teeth were around my muzzle. I was instantly paralyzed with fear. If he wanted to, my whole head could fit into his jaw. But his hold was light, tightening when I tried to move.
I knew who the wolf was. It was Liam. The pitch black fur the only thing I could see. He growled again, lowering his head so I was forced to lay down between his thick paws.
He held me a minute longer before he slowly opened his jaws. I waited a moment before darting off, to the left of where I was headed. Liam was quick to jump to his feet, chasing after me. Again, I didn't make it far before I was stopped, this time, not by Liam, but a fence. A barbed wire fence for chickens.
I yelped in pain, running right into it. Fire shot into my back leg and shoulder, causing my fox to go from flight to fight in a matter of seconds. I tried getting free from the painful metal webbing, but only seemed to cut deeper into my leg, before Liam growled.
The barbed wire was twisted into the fur of my shoulder, my left back leg not stuck, but still cut. Liam walked over, dipping his head to my leg. I gekkered, trying to keep him away from me, but only causing the barb to tighten around my fur.
Liam was quick to release me from the wiring, a tuft of my fur left behind. His teeth gripped the scruff of my neck, lifting me into the air. I brought my back legs up so they didn't touch the ground as Liam took off in a jog. My escape failed. I knew I'd be in trouble the instant we got back, but I needed to leave.
I had to see what was left of my family.
(Now this is my writing)
I knew that I need to see my family. See if what David had told me was true. I knew in my heart that it was but I needed to see it.
All to soon we were back at the house. I was just waiting for Liam to set me down so I could run and hide away from him. He had already opened the door and walked in by the time I was thinking of where I could hide. He closed the door and set me down gently before shifting back and putting on basketball shorts. He looked at me and waited as if he was wanting me to run from him.
"Shift Wren. I need to look at your leg." He wasn't asking. It was more of an order but I just gekkered and started to back away from him as much as possible. I knew that was showing him that I was scared but I just wanted to get home. I didn't want to stay here much longer. He saw me backing away and said, softer this time "Please shift. I want to help but I can't help you if you don't let me see your leg. Please Wren just shift back. I won't hurt you. I'll take you to see your family if that's what you were trying to do then just tell me. I promise I will take you to see them but I need to look at your leg at the moment."
He threw me a t-shirt and some shorts. I shifted back and hurriedly put on what seemed to be his shirt. "There we go that wasn't too hard was it?" He started to come near me to look at my left leg. He got up after a secound and went into the other room. Liam came back with a first aid kit. "This will sting. The barbed wire cut you good." I hadn't looked at my leg yet and when I did I was sorry. There was a long open cut down the front part of my leg. After a secound I looked away.

A couple of hours later I was in his office on the couch while he was sitting at his desk working on something unknown to me. I was reading a book, named The Braque Connection by Estelle Ryan, about a woman who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and was working with a team to find this Russian Philanthropist. This was book three out of at least four or five maybe even six books. I was so into my book that I didn't realize that he had his hand outstretched towards me, or even standing by the couch for that matter, until he cleared his throat. "Lexi is waiting for us downstairs. She has dinner made already."
I took his hand to help me up but then started to take my hand out of his. "Why, Little Fox, are you trying to take you hand away from mine?" he asked. I stated very seriously,"Because you took me from my family and attacked my pack. How am I supposed to trust you when you have taken away my life and my home?" and I started to walk away when he asked, "Do you want me to take you to see your family? Little Fox I will do anything for you but you must remember that you are mine. And no one will take you away from me."
I looked at him and said, "Please. Just let me see them once more before I have to face that I will not see them again." After all that we walked down stairs to see Lexi putting spaghetti on to the table. I was surprised to see that there was enough to feed at least 10 foxes. "How many people are eating?"
"Just us four. Jefferson, Lexi, you and me, Little Fox. Why do you ask?" he said while trying not to laugh. "It looks enough to feed about 10 of the foxes in my pack." I answered quietly.

I know it's not long but I am trying. Give me a little bit. I will update when I'm not as tired from reading all day. The book that i mentioned earlier is absolutely part of my favorite series and I have been reading all day book 2 which is called The Dante Connection and so by starting the third book again for my seventh time (I MIGHT be exaggerating by one or 2 times) I decided to add in a book that she could be reading. All rights of The Braque Connection go to Estelle Ryan.
Thanks
