Over the next six weeks I went through a grueling workout regime to get ready for my first 11 Dive meet. Of course there were 6 Dive meets that I had gone to and gotten over 100 points.

My dives were as followed:

101B (Front Dive (101) in the pike position (B))

102C (Front somersault (102) in the tuck position(C))

201A (Back Dive (201) in the straight position (A) meaning my body wouldn’t bend at the knees or the waist)

202C (A/N I think this one can be pieced together from above)

301C (Inward Dive)

401C (Reverse Dive)

Those were the dives I worked in middle school. Since I had basically retired for three years and only had three weeks to rework my dives before the first six dive meet. I was pretty confident and went in placing second with a score of 82.5. for my first six Dive meet in three years I was pretty happy but I knew if I wanted to place in conference I would have to really push. Good thing I love a challenge right?

The first two weeks of practice were really fun. Blake brought D.A to practice to swim with me. After watching me dive she decided she wanted to try diving and actually did really good. We worked really well together and kept diving up until we did a meet where we each had to perform three dives. Two of the dives for D.A were fine we knew she had them legal but she was really struggling on her third and we weren’t sure that she would be legal on it. She ended up just barely being legal and passing the dive. After that competition she had told me that she was done diving. I was so proud of her though. I knew she was pushing herself to make it so that I could dive at that meet. I wasn’t allowed to do six dives. It had to be two divers doing three. Without D.A I wouldn’t have been able to Dive that day. Even though D.A stopped diving with me she continued to come to my practices and do core with me and running with me. She would keep me company. But once school started she had two-a-days with Aaron.

School had started the third week of practice and seeing as how I hadn’t seen my team once, other than D.A, I didn’t really feel a part of it. It was kind of disheartening to be on a team with over forty members and not seeing them. So I went to Blake and asked him if I could go to a swim practice to talk to the girls. He said he would talk to James and see if he could get Aaron out of the way so that I could pitch the idea of diving with me to the girls.

It wasn’t as if I was treated as a leper. I was of course invited to team functions like team pictures and I got the texts about towels and suits. I just didn’t really get to interact with the girls like I had hoped.

I walked into the pool to find Aaron no where in sight. I walked down to the girls and went straight up to Lo.

“Hey girl!” I said looking at her.

“Em? Hey!! What are you doing here? You better get out before coach sees you!” she said excited to see me but worried about what will happen if I’m caught.

“Don’t worry about it. I was just dropping this off to you or Zo to see if you could read it to all the girls. I don’t think that Coach James can hold off the Evil Z much longer.” I said giggling at the nickname we had given him over the years.

“Sure I’ll read it to them… now get out before he permanently kicks you off the team.” She said seriously.

Lo was one of those girls who have swam their entire life. She understands that you can have an amazing swimming team but against a semi good team with good divers when you don’t have any and you know that you will lose. That’s one of the things that make her look out for me. Of course we’ve been friends for a long time but she’s a practical girl who doesn’t let her feelings get in the way of what’s right. That’s one of the reasons that she’s a captain. One of the few things I respect Aaron for is making her a captain.
