Waking up in an unfamiliar place can make you lash out a paw out the closest thing. The closest thing for me was another cat. "What in StarClan's name are you doing!"A multi-colored she-cat snarled. Three kits were asleep beside her. 'StarClan? Crazy cat? Great stars where am I?' I thought, scrambling back. 'Where's Mama?' A growl rose deep in my throat. My fur started to fluff up and I slid out my claws. The she-cat didn't seem intimidated one bit. On the other side of the den, a grey and white she-cat lifted up her head an yawned. "Morning Duckfeather. Is the kit up yet?"She asked. Her voice was as soft as silk. "Morningsky you said you were gonna take care of this thing so take it!"The other she-cat, Duckfeather, snarled to her denmate. She roughly picked me up by my scruff and swung me towards the grey she-cat. She took my scruff gently and placed me by her paws. "Hello little one. I'm Morningsky, I'll be taking care of you for a while."she said gently. Her fur was soft and warm and the moss below was nice and fresh. "Where's Mama?"I asked, worried for my mother. 'Why would she leave me alone next to Duckfeather and Morningsky?' I thought. Morningsky looked at Duckfeather. She place a soft paw over my ears. "How do I tell her? I don't want to break her heart."MorningSky said. Her paw may be over my ears but, I could still hear. DuckFeather glared at the soft queen. "Tell her anyways! Her mother killed your son and abandoned hers! She obviously has no care for her kits or any others!"Duckfeather snarled, lashing her skinny tail. Morningsky looked completely shocked at the other queen's outburst. "Her mother didn't kill my son, let alone abandon her kit' How could you say something like that. She's just a kit, an innocent being in the accident that lead to her mother's death. Beachkit was stolen by a fox. Our patrol chased her mother away and forced her to leave her kit behind in better care. When we found her mother beside the Thunderpath her ribs were showing and she could barley feed herself. It's against the warrior code to leave a kit to die alone."Morningsky snarled. Duckfeather looked ashamed. "We're all upset about BeachKit's death and it was wrong for me to accuse her. I hope that she has a different fate then your son and that BeachKit will always watch us from StarClan, making sure that no harm comes to his clan."Duckfeather said, dipping her head and giving her chest a few licks to hide her shame. Morningsky romoved her paw from my ears. "Your mother isn't coming back for you but, she always loved you. I'll take care of you from now on. You're safe with me."She said, grooming my long, dark fur. I began to dose off. I soon fell asleep from the soft strokes of her tongue. I knew I was going to like this she-cat.
