I lashed out at Harekit before he could move out of my reach. My claws grazed his cheek as I launched myself forward to dig them into his shoulders, forcing them in deep into his flesh.

Harekit let out a screech as he tumbled backward, trying to throw me off of him.

"Help!"Harekit called out meekly from beneath me.

"Take it back. Take back all the things you said to me and maybe I'll let you go."I snarled viciously in his ear.

"I'm sorry please let me go."He begged.

I stopped digging my claws into his flesh so hard, but there was no way I was got stop so easily.

Duckfeather's kits let out terrified squeals as they ran away from me, probably to tattle to those wretched warriors of theirs.

"Stop it!"Sandkit yowled, launching herself at me.

I released one of my paws from Harekit's shoulders and clawed at her, successfully scratching her nose.

I heard pawsteps coming in our direction.

"Where are they."A familiar voice sounded from behind the fresh-kill pile. Featherfang.

"On the other side of the fresh-kill pile."One of Duckfeather's kits, Clearkit from the sound of it, told the warrior.

I quickly released my hold on Harekit and slunk away into the shadows of the bushes, moving away from the scene.

"Who did this?"Someone asked from behind me.

"Maplekit did. She attacked Harekit when he was trying to get something to eat from the fresh-kill pile."One of the kits responded.

"Where is she now?"FeatherFang snarled to them, clearly furious from the tone of his voice.

"She went over there."Another kit wailed in fear.

I pushed through one of the bushes that made up the barrier of camp, pushing my way out of camp and into the forest.

This was my chance to escape. My chance to leave this wretched clan behind. My chance to be free.

I ran as fast as I could, moving deeper into the forest.

I rounded a corner and dived into a bramble thicket, hiding from anyone who might be trying to find me.

"Maplekit! Maplekit! Maplekit where are you?"A voice called out from nearby.

I flattened myself to the ground, hoping they wouldn't find me.

The voice grew closer and closer till it was right next to the bramble thicket.

"Maplekit what are you doing in there?"The voice asked, peering into the thicket.

I stared up with wide eyes, trying to look as scared as possible, in hopes they would take pity on me and not drag me back to camp.

I was surprised to see that it was Fernstar and not Featherfang.

"Come on out. I'm not gonna hurt you."She whispered to me.

I pressed farther back into the hollow of the thicket.

"It's okay. You're not in trouble. I promise."She soothed.

I decided to trust her and carefully emerged from the thicket.

"Come on now. Time to get back to camp."

She lead me through the forest and back through the camp entrance.

"Follow me."She said, laying her tail on my shoulders and guiding me towards her den.

I took a peak at the fresh-kill pile as we passed it. The sand around it was lightly stained red.

When we reached her den, she pushed her way inside. I took a deep breath before entering the den myself.

"Have a seat MapleKit."

I sat down and held a straight face.

"Now tell me Maplekit, why did you do it?"

"He made fun of me and my mother."

I saw her freeze a little, before relaxing.

"Okay Maplekit that's all I needed to hear. You can go now."

"That's it?"I questioned, surprised at her lack of anger and rage. "Aren't I going to be punished?"

"There will be punishment but not until tomorrow. Now go back to the nursery. I expect to see you in my den tomorrow morning."

I turned and left the den without saying another word.

When I reached the den, I noticed that any conversation that was going on, immediately stopped. Sandkit glared at me, but I noticed a little fear in her eyes. Serves her right. Duckfeather pulled her kits away from me with her tail and moved them closer to her stomach. Morningsky was looking at me worriedly. I could see disappointment in her eyes. I felt a little shame, but my regret overpowered it. From this moment on, I was going to attempt to be loyal to Leafclan. For Morningsky. I never wanted to see that look in her eyes again.

Everything I do from this moment on, will be for Morningsky, and for my true mother, where ever she may be.
