10 years later- Roshelle is 14
Roshelle's POV
"Mom? Can I get a phone? And an Apple computer? And a..."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Roshelle! All that stuff is expensive!" I sighed loudly.
"But..." I felt a bit hopeful, "if you want to buy it yourself you can." I sighed again.
"Yeah, I guess." Reluctantly I turned back to my books. I didn't HATE math, I just disliked it to an extreme. Why does Mom have to be so cruel? At least she's making apple crisp. I consoled myself with these thoughts.
"When is Christmas vacation?"
"In two more days. But I'm pretty sure you'll survive until then. SOMEHOW." I scowled at my cousin.
"So much you know about it, Mr. I-am-off-homeschool-so-I-am-gonna-brag- about-it!" I retorted vehemently.
"Ha, we all know that the only reason you want to be off school is because you want to hibernate for the rest of the year!" Added my friend Daniel.
"And play soccer, football, basketball..."
"...Baseball, capture the flag, knockout..."
"And go shopping!" They both added in fake girly voices.
"Will you two just leaves me alone? I'm TRYING TO DO MY SCHOOL!!!" I yelled, putting my hands over my ears. A screech was heard in the driveway and the boys hurried to the door. The driver stepped out of the car. Who should it be but my lifesaver.
"Hey guys, can you help wipe down my car? I sooo need it beautified!" I grinned. Just in the nick of time!
"Hey, aunt Lianna!" She smiled and the boys rushed outside to obey her orders. Aunt Lianna was precious to all of us, but she was especially so to me. She was a great friend and she was actually only five years older than me! She liked to dress up and play the innocent beauty on the outside, but close family and friends knew that she was a champion football player and could lift more than 5 times her weight. My aunt was cool.
"Do you want to come to the Saunders' house with me? I hear that Whitney and Kyle are there." I squealed in excitement.
"Mom? Please?" I could see that her face was hesitant, so I unleashed my secret weapon.
"Mom, I love you sooooo much!!! And I love your apple crisp sooooo much! And I love you a lot!" I put on my puppy face.
"Pleaseeeeee?"
"Oh, all right. But Lianna, you had better take care of my little girl, you understand?" Aunt Lianna rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, Mother. Now c'mon, Shelly! Let us go into the land far beyond and never return!" With that she flipped her long hair and strutted out the door. I followed her, laughing and talking.
