Chapter 9: Training?

Andy and I have decided to take things slow from now on. It's only been a couple days since we had our little argument. Classes are fun but I can't start my personal training until my foot fully recovers. I can walk on it just fine but I'm nervous to try running and jumping. Of course, Andy keeps freaking out whenever I seem in pain, but my toes are magnetically connected to corners. There is absolutely nothing I can do about that.

"Today, we will be learning to navigate and read maps." Andy says to the group of people we have been teaching. We have the more skilled students out of all the volunteers so some of them laughed when he said the objective for today.

"You're laughing now," I said to the class, "but I'm guessing you haven't seen the map we're about to show you."

"She's right. Everyone look up here and pay close attention." Andy said as he pulled up a picture on the projector. It had differently weighted lines and lots of small dots of all colors imaginable.

"Who knows what this map is of?" Andy asked. He didn't need to ask because everyone knew how many hands would be proudly raised.

"Surprise, surprise." one of the students in the front mumbled. Take a moment to guess who had their hands up... Have your answer? Are you sure? Okay, here we go.

"Alright now who haven't we picked in a while?" I asked Andy. He turned to me with a tired look.

"How about this," I said to the whole room, "if your answer is a snarky remark or smart ass answer, please, put down your hand."

Juliet reluctantly dropped her hand. She shot me a glare but I didn't give a shit.

"Cameron," Andy said, "please tell us what and where this map is of."

"The map of the nearest city's streets, Sir." He said with a serious tone. Cam had always loved learning. But then again he also loves to show off.

"Good." Andy acknowledged. He continued with the lecture.

Before tuning back into Andy, I looked over to Cam. Back in the city, we were never aloud to see any type of map let alone study one. How could he tell just by a glance? Also, how did he know they were streets and not the plumbing or something?

"Jess," Andy broke me out of my thoughts. "It's lunch time!"

He pulled on my hand after I grabbed my stuff.

"Where are we going?" I asked as I tried to keep up with his pace.

"Away from here." He said with a laugh. Andy's up to something. This kid never rests.

"Can you slow down?" I sighed. He immediately stopped and turned to face me. I ran into him at a rather high speed so I was surprised when he didn't fall.

"Are you hurting?" he asked as he carefully held your arm.

"No, I'm just tired. You need to stop worrying. I'm fine. In fact," I said as I got closer to his face, "I could probably start training tomorrow."

The sudden burst of laughter from Andy made me roll my eyes and start walking in the direction we were headed.

"How about no!" he said as he caught up to me. I hated how he was still smiling like I made a joke.

"Are you going to keep me in a bubble the rest of my life?" I wondered out loud to him. This made him laugh more.

"Two seconds ago, you were deeply concerned about me and now you're laughing at me? Thanks... Thanks a lot." I teased.

"I only laugh because I love you!" He replied. I looked up at him and rolled my eyes.

"Sure you do... Now where are we going?" I asked as he faked a hurt look.

"We are going to my room." He said as we came to our hallway.

"We only have 20 more minutes left in lunch break!" I said urgently as I ran to his door. Of course he took his sweet time taking his keys out and unlocking the door. I was too hungry to deal with his jokes.

"I made us sandwiches this morning. They're in the fridge." Andy said as I rushed to the kitchen. Since when does he cook for me? I reach into the fridge and grab my sandwich. I hope he doesn't expect anything in return... Actually, I'm okay with it because this sandwich is life.

"Slow down. We have time!" he said into my ear as he reached around me to get his lunch.

"I didn't know you cooked this well!" I said with a mouth full of heavenly- goodness.

"What can I say?" He said with food in his mouth, "You bring out the best in me!"

We laughed as we almost choked on our food talking. Andy is so fun to be around.

"So..." I said trying to find my words. I hate being the one who starts a conversation.

"So?" Andy asked.

"I would like to start training." I said. He looked at me then moved his gaze to the sink which was full of dirty dishes.

"I mean," I began while cleaning the dishes, "I'm gonna have to start some time. And I would rather start on my own terms than have someone push me into doing it."

The silence was killing me. He shouldn't be mad. Why would he be? I am showing that I want to help the cause. Well, that and I want to show Juliet up. She might've been training her whole life, but I'm a fast learner.

"Babe," Andy said as he started to dry the plates I had washed, "I love you."

"Yeah! I love you too! And I just want to-"

"Jess," He interrupted me, "because I love you, I don't want you to get used to the idea of warfare. Eventually, the Black Veil Brides are going out into battle. I want you to be prepared for combat but I hope you know that I will do everything I can to keep you away from harm."

"So is that a yes?" I asked looking up to him. He smiled and nodded. I Laughed and dropped the fork I was cleaning to hug him.

"Hey, your hands are wet!" He said trying to get away from said wet hands. It only made me laugh more while I put them on the back of his neck. He looked at me with a loathing expression as I pulled him in for a kiss.

"We should leave now." I say when we break apart. I smirks and dips his hand into the soap water in the sink.

"Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" He asks as he caresses my face.

"I hate you sometimes." I whisper before grabbing a towel.

"But you started it!" He laughs as he dries his neck and hand.

We head back to the classroom quickly. Most of the class was already there when we entered. The rest of the lecture went by quickly and without error.
