'Ebs can you come downstairs for a minute please?' My mum called from the living room. I sighed and lifted my head away from the bright screen, shining from my laptop. I heaved my aching legs down the 2 flights of stairs and to the living room where my parents stood, in front of the plasma screen TV. I plonked my bottom on the arm chair and stared at my parents in the face and rested my head in my hand. 'Well?' I asked, 'you summoned me down here...what's the problem?' 'Ebony we have something to tell you' my mum said, looking at my dad in the eyes. This made me sit up from my slouching position and actually pay attention to what my parents were going to say. 'We have been keeping a secret from you for the past 16 years and we feel now is the okay time to tell you' my mum continued, her words slowly blurring away. Okay, phew at least she wasn't pregnant. Seriously my 7 year old brother, Hanson and my 3 year old sister, Lettina-Rose was enough. They drove me seriously insane sometimes. This time of my life, stress was not needed.

I saw my mum takes deep breath in and the words leaked out of her trembling mouth. 'Well, your...your....' My mum hesitated, 'oh I can't do it, jack you take over please' she squealed, pushing my dad closer to me and hiding behind his back. I looked directly at him, confused. 'Right thankyou Melissa. Erm Ebony, what your mum is trying to say is that, well.... your a vampire'. My dad, spluttered out, after 10 seconds of thinking how to put it.

Silence fell across the living room. You could even hear the tumbleweed and wolf howls outside.

I laughed as if it was a joke but my parents looked at me seriously. 'Your joking right?' I chuckled, although I knew they were not. 'No Ebony. We're not! Look' my dad answered, handing me a A4 piece of paper full of writing and text. I looked and scanned through it and my jaw dropped. The paper showed tests results I had done when I was days old and then later when I was months old, so they could be sure. 'I mean your canine teeth came though before your front teeth and your first word was suck' my dad went on, 'does that not say something as well? Me and your mother were concerned Ebs.'

I couldn't believe it. No, I didn't want to believe it, not matter how real it was. 16 years alive and I never thought that I was a vampire, even with the signs of constant biting of people whenever I could. My mum and dad even had scars on their arms from my pointy little fangs from when I was toddler. I guess they just chose to accept it and move on.

I didn't really speak much the rest of that evening. Not even at dinner, where I am the usually the most loud and annoying. No, not today. My brother, Hanson decided as I was not doing it, it would be his turn and wouldn't stop yapping on about nothing.

I looked over at my brother and sister and a sudden thought came to me. Were they vampires too? Or was I all alone in this scenario? But mum and dad made of quite clear that I couldn't had got it from them. Honestly It made no sense.

How did I get these vampire 'powers'?

{Wow okay! What a shock for Ebony! I don't know how I would react if I was told that. But it wouldn't happen irl, so we don't have to worry about that...
