Southern loving

Chapter 4

~John Luke's POV~

I got home that evening after showing Haley around. I had a really nice time with her today. I locked my truck and went into my house. In the kitchen were my parents and Sadie. As soon as I walked in there they all turned and looked at me.

"Hello son." said my dad. "You seem really happy did you have a good time with Emily today?"

"Willie just look at that smile he has on his face, of course he had a good time with her." said my mom.

"Actually I had a horrible time with Emily. I had a ton of fun with Haley though." As I said Haley's name I sat down at the counter and rested my head on my hand, still smiling. I don't know why but Haley made me totally forget about my fight with Emily today. She was really nice and sweet and funny. I'm glad I bumped into her today. We are going to be great friends. And when I hugged her she smelled good. I hope she really liked hanging with me cause I want to do it again.

"Wait who's Haley?" Sadie said.

"Yeah I've never heard of her before." said my mom.

"She just moved here from Ohio. I bumped into her at the mall after I had another stupid fight with Emily." I said. "Haley didn't know her way around town or really what there was to do around here so I drove her around town. I showed her duck commander. She didn't realize who I was till I showed her the place and said I was your son. She is really cool. You guys would like her. She's girly like you Sadie." I said

"So what happened with Emily then?" Asked Sadie.

"She just walked out of the store all angry. I don't know where she went. I kinda want to break up with her."

"Oh John Luke. Emily is such a nice girl." said my mom

"Let the boy do what he wants. Son if your unhappy with Emily then it's time to end things. There are plenty of girls out there." Said Willie, my dad.

"Yeah, well I'm going up to my room." I said. I walked out of the kitchen and up to my room, plopped down on the bed and went off into a daydream. Soon I was interrupted by my phone vibrating. I pulled it out of my shorts pocket and saw that Emily had texted me.

From Emily

~ John Luke look im sorry about earlier you shouldn't have to wear things you don't like. I didn't mean to make you upset. I just wish that you would listen to what I have to say more often.

I just stared at the text for ten minutes. What is she talking about me never listening to what she has to say. I listen to her all the time I just didn't like the shirt she picked out for me. I've really had enough of her. She is always mad at me for no reason and when she is mad everything is always my fault. I'm just so sick of it. I finally knew what I had to do.

To Emily

~ look, today's fight was stupid. Just like all the other ones we have been having. What are you talking about me never listening to you. I always listen. But you were bossing me around telling me to get a shirt I didn't like. I'm sick of you always picking fights with me and thinking I'm a bad boyfriend because I don't do everything you tell me to do. I think it's time we take a break. Or end our relationship cause I don't think I can do this anymore.

I hit send and not even a minute later she is calling me. We talked on the phone for a good hour and we both decided that the relationship was over. I was sad but at the same time I was glad to not have to deal with her anymore. I looked over at the clock and saw it was 8:30. I went down to the living room and watched tv. Today's events were running through my head. I met the new girl and had a great time with her, and I broke up with Emily. Today had been a long day.

Sadie walked into the living room and say down on the couch next to mine.

"So what's Haley like?" She asked.

"She really cool. Weren't you listening to what I said in the kitchen. I think you two will become good friends. You know she's going to OCS. She's my age."

"So you and her are friends now?" She loves to know every detail of the things I tell her.

"Well yeah I think so. We exchanged numbers and stuff." I said.

"Well she should hang out with us tomorrow. Reed and Cole will be over."

"Alright I'll text her tomorrow." After that Sadie and I talked for a little bit longer and I told her that I broke up with Emily. It was around 9:30 when we both decided to go to bed. I fell asleep thinking about what Cole, Reed, and Sadie will think of Haley.
