They drove home in silence, Jessica feeling the air between them different somehow.

Earlier, they were able to talk easily, with Josh smiling and laughing the whole time, and even letting Jessica open up her soft side to the night.

No matter what she had done, or how they usually were, Jessica couldn't help but laugh and talk as well, relishing the feeling of attention and quasi-love from her husband.

He had held her door open when she entered the car, and he even grabbed her hand, holding it the whole way home.

Home, she thought warily, what a horrible word.

They were almost home, and as they turned onto their street, she could hear the loud thumping of the now rap music coming from the Reyes's house accompanied by the hues of green, red, purple and yellow from a strobe light in the Reyes's backyard.

Jessica and Josh looked at each other and laughed, knowing when they had moved to the neighborhood it was as uptight as could be until the Reyes's moved in.

It wasn't that they didn't like them, it was that they were so loud and obtuse, and in your face.

The rest of the neighborhood had given multiple petitions to get them to turn down their overall brashness, but Jessica and Josh had never signed it.

They even had one of the little boys from the family mow their lawn on the weekends and gave him a hearty allowance for it, in exchange for a huge smile and a quick "Mire !Mire! To the ice cream man!" before he would run off to show his family his prize.

Turning back to the present, Jessica's heart sank when she saw the outline of her house, and knew that she couldn't back out of whatever josh was planning.

She was contemplating whether she would actually do anything with him when he said, "Hey, we're here! Look at that!."

He had so much exclamation in his voice that she couldn't help but look up and noticed that Kelly was standing there in the driveway holding up a sign.

"What the hell!!!"She yelled and then her vision dimmed and the blackness couldn't be fought off as she felt herself falling.

She awoke and at first didn't know where she was. It was morning, and she realized she was in her own bed.

As she hurriedly pulled the hair out of her face she suddenly remembered the events from last night and almost screamed again.

"Oh my God, oh my God!" she whispered frantically, quickly running her hands over herself to make sure she wasn't shot or had any bruises from when Josh had found out.

But she didn't have anything wrong with her and was in fact in her nightgown.

She noticed a tray of food on the nightstand and began to think she had gone crazy.

Did Josh make that for me? She wondered.

She heard voices floating in from the kitchen and couldn't place them. they sounded deeper.

Then her mouth dropped and her eyes grew huge as she connected the voices to the faces that teasingly danced around her mind. Josh and Kelly!

She almost fainted again, but managed to hold the dismal feelings at bay.

Quietly she crept up out of bed and tiptoed down the hall. She glanced in the kids's rooms but didn't notice any lumps in the beds or any sign of their presence.

They must still be at my parents house, she thought.

She silently moved towards the kitchen entrance and was amazed to see Josh in her frilly apron and a spatula in his hand.

He was waving the spatula around and talking to Kelly who was sitting at the island connected to the kitchen.

She didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but knew she couldn't stay hidden forever.

She sighed, squared her shoulders and walked in as if she had a purpose, and cleared her throat to let them know of her presence.

Josh quickly turned around, the large smile he had on his face becoming even bigger as he saw her. He went up to her and grabbed her in a crushing hug, then twirled her around the room like last night.

She thought he had gone crazy too, and she couldn't help but stare at Kelly, trying to get any kind of signal or explanation of why he was there.

He just stared at them, his face blank, his eyes reading nothing to her. The only thing she noticed was that he clutched the glass of orange juice a bit harder, or maybe that was her imagination.

Josh put her down, and she grabbed onto the wall to steady her dizzy head.

After she regained her senses, she sat down next to Kelly, and she noticed him stiffen.

She was dying to know why Kelly was there or how her husband and him knew each other, but she was so worried about what Josh would think that she kept her mouth closed.

Josh finally finished cooking what looked like eggs and bacon and pushed it down to Kelly, who muttered his thanks.

"So, did you like your breakfast in bed?" Josh asked Jessica pointedly, and she looked up at him bashfully, then had to tell him she had forgotten that it was there.

He looked a bit hurt, but ordered her back to the room to eat his special breakfast. "And hurry up! I have a surprise for you!"

I think I've had about all the surprise I can take right now Joshua, she uttered to herself.

She grabbed the tray and stalked back down to the kitchen, placing the tray in the dishes while scooping her plate and plopping it onto the counter.

Josh looked at her expectantly, and she rolled her eyes while biting into the bacon he had cooked for her. "Mmm, so good," she exclaimed dramatically and saw that he was satisfied at her rection.

Then she put the bacon down when he turned towards Kelly. She just did not have the stonach to eat anything at that moment.

"So," began Josh and then grabbed her hands, while giving a glance over at Kelly who gave a polite nod.

She looked up Josh confused, but he continued, "I have been promoted at work with my own corner office and my own personal assistant.!" He practically crowed while almost jumping up and down.

She was so surprised but filled with relief at the reasoning behind her husband knowing her dear friend.

She was sincerely happy that she wouldn't have to stop a murder, and began to jump up and down with Josh while Kelly stared at them without any emotion.

They stopped jumping around and Josh suddenly pressed his lips to hers and grabbed her in an intimate embrace.

Jessica's cheeks went fully red, and she tried to pull away when she felt herself lost in his embrace and his inviting lips. She began to hungrily kiss him back, the butterflies in her stomach amassing to a whirlwind, then came to, and pushed him away.

While wiping her mouth, she quipped, "Josh! There's company!"

He looked at her with a disappointed look and turned away with a flushed face and hungry eyes.

"I'm sorry Kelly, I got away from my senses. But!" He clapped then rubbed his hands together while smiling, "I say that even though you are my own personal Man-bitch, today you,me and the little wifey are going to celebrate, on me!"

I glanced at Kelly and noticed that his face had changed to one of a glowering rage when Josh turned back to the stove.
