Fae hesitated a little before taking the helmet from Seth's outstretched arm. She slipped it on and hoped for that 'sexy biker chick' look, but Seth's expression didn't give anything away. Without waiting for a command, she climbed on the back of Seth's Iron 883 Harley. She slowly crept her arms around his waist, pretending not to notice his rock hard lean, very lean abs.
"You ready?" A look of eagerness came over his face, maybe even impatience, she couldn't tell. Seth was just one of those people who were unreadable, no matter how well you knew him.
She awkwardly giggled, her heart tugging in a whole other direction.
"You say it as if it's something dangerous," She shrugged off his last offer to get off the bike, and onto safe, firm, ground. She couldn't think about it or she would dismount and completely make a fool of herself.
Fae gulped, when she was just eleven, she had been in a motorcycle accident, on the back of her aunt's bike. She had only broken her arm, but her aunt had died on the spot. She had been terrified of any seatbelt-less vehicle since then.
The motorcycle started to gradually take off. Her face felt speed, wind, power. But her stomach felt nauseous and afraid. She closed her eyes concentrating on the specific feeling of wind rushing past her face. Relaxing and thrilling at the same time.
"See this isn't so bad..." Seth assured her.
He had noticed how tense she got when he offered a ride home. Of course she wasn't about to reject him, she didn't want to make him feel even worse about himself. And she'd done plenty this week.
"...I know." She responded with her little 'miss know it all' attitude. Which always seemed to make everything better, for her at least.
"Jeez, just tryin' to chill the mood". Seth always had this way of making her smile, his plain tone of voice, which hid a pinch of sarcasm.
Fae didn't talk for the rest of the way home.
