A/N: Yes, I've been gone for two months, I'm SORRY, OKEY? I just haven't had the motivation. I'll try again now.

---------------------

The light wakes me up, together with the ruffling of sheets. I turn to look at Daniel. He sits at the edge pulling his hand through his blonde hair. His clothes are wrinkled from turning in his sleep.

"Morning." I say quietly, bit unsure of his mood today.

"Morning." He doesn't turn around. Instead he gets up and disappear into the bathroom. The door slam shut and a groan leaves my lips. It doesn't help a girl on the run to have a partner who seems to hater her.

Throwing off the covers I quickly change my clothes before he gets out, pulling at the hem of the hoodie.

"Now what?" I ask myself, drawing the horizon. The window isn't as cold as I'd sorta expected. I lean my forehead against my hand, nose touching the glass. Cars pass below, the boulevard filled with speeders. I sigh. "Fuck."

"What?" I turn around to see Daniel stand in the hallway. He is still wearing yesterday's clothes, but he has managed to control his hair to stand up on his head.

"Nothing." I push my hands down my pockets, moving my feet a bit wider to hold balance. He doesn't move, pose matching mine. None of us speak. We just size each other from the other side of the room.

A buzzing breaks the silence. My eyes goes wide, at the same time as he realizes where it comes from.

"You still have your phone?!" My body temperature goes from ice to boiling in a second. "What if they find us?" Daniel shuffles his feet, not looking up at me. With a few quick steps I reach him, pulling up his phone from his pocket. I turn around and raise my hand, preparing to throw it in the wall.

Before I can do it a hand wraps around my wrist, pulling my arm behind my back, pushing it upwards. A shout of pain leaves my lips. Daniel takes the phone from my hand, losing focus as he puts it back down his pocket. I wrap my free arm around his neck and pull forward. I feel him lose his balance, cursing as he stumbles forward, bringing me with him to the floor. Air is being pressed from my lungs as he falls on me, chest pressed against my back.

"Get off." I hiss, struggling to breathe. Rolling I manage to catch him off guard, pushing his heavy body off me. Quickly I lift myself from the floor and take a few steps back to create some distance. Still cursing he lifts himself up, push up position, and raises his eyes to meet mine. I lift my eyebrow, holding up his phone.  He frowns. "Why'd you keep it?"

With a groan he lets himself fall to the ground. I press my lips together. He lifts his head from the floor again, blue eyes meeting mine. Sighing he gets up, wiping his palms against his jeans as a nervous gesture, not looking up.

"To keep contact with my friends." He surprises me with taking my hands in his. "By the way, they don't know me anyway. I'm just some random guy, who happens to be helping the girl he wants dead."

Looking up I meet his eyes. He looks so genuine and honest, as his worried blue searches my, hopefully, expressionless brown. I swallow.

"Okay, I believe you." I let his phone into his hands, taking a step away.

He sighs in relief, stepping forward, before his expression suddenly changes and he backs again. I frown, what happened? Shaking it off I walk past him, walking into the bathroom, leaving Daniel to his confusing ways.

Right when the door has closed a loud slam makes me jump. Reaching for the door knob I stop myself, turning back to the sink. I ignore the next thud. I thought these rooms were soundproof? They must be moving beds in the other room, not that it would surprise me. I brush my teeth and wash off, before returning out. Daniel is standing by the window, just like I did earlier.

Walking to the safe that is meant to hold guests' valuables I put in the code, opening it at the end of the buzzing. Quickly I silently count the money, mumbling the numbers. Okay, we got enough for a while. But still...

"What now?" I speak the question that I've ask myself too many times. Putting the wallet back I close the safe, still not looking his way.

"I don't know." He's still turned away, I can hear it on the way his voice bounces on the glass window. I pick up the remote from my night stand, turning on the tv.

"-il has yet to be found, but is thought to be in the city of gamble, Las Vegas." The brown haired woman looks seriously at the camera, a picture of me in the upper corner. Shit.

"Shit!" The curse fall from my lips as I higher the volume. "FUCK!"

"Police and search parties, as well as Mr Mellark and his friends, are expected to arrive tonight. More information will come to you as we get it." She looks down, shuffling her cards. "In other new-"

"Fuck, they're after us!" Breathe, Emily girl, breathe.

Daniel curses, suddenly behind me. Okay, but they haven't found us yet, right?

"We gotta leave." Daniel curses again, before kicking the bed. I sigh, repeating his curses.

"Okay, shit, fuck, we gotta get what we need before we leave. Food, clothes, shit, I don't know." I pull my hand through my hair. "We gotta buy a bag to bring our clothes in." What did I say about breathing? I inhale deeply, holding it for a moment before letting it out.

"Yeah, sure." Daniel is mimicking my motions, messing up his hair. "I'll get that, you call the reception and tell 'em we're checking out today." I nod frantically,  swallowing and smoothing my hair down again.

"Okay." He nods and then turns, walking out the door.

When the door has gone shut I stand frozen for a few seconds before I start to function again. I rush around the room, putting together our combined things in a pile on the bed. They might not be nowhere near the city, but, shit, what if they're taking a faster way, or don't have to stop for gas so much? One close encounter is enough for me.

It takes me five trips to the bathroom to figure out I'm not wearing shoes, and cursing I pull them on and tie the laces. When did the sun hit it's highest point, and why isn't Daniel back yet? Nervous I sit down at the edge of the bed, calling the reception, foot going like a drum stick.

"Reception, how can I help you?"

"Yeah, hi. Room 1304, Jackson. Something came up, so we have to check out today, as soon as possible, if that's okay?" The longer the receptionist goes on and makes me lie, the more impatient I become. Not about the lying, but Daniel must have been gone for hours.

As soon as I hang up the door opens and the devil enters. He carries two backpacks that he throws on the bed, before starting to pack one of them

"Long line." He excuses himself. "Lady front of me took ages." I hum as answer, throwing my newly bought clothes in the other one.

I don't know if it's a desert thing, or if Summer's just passing quicker than I thought, but the sun starts to drop really fast. When we're done packing it's halfway down, and neon signs start to light up to compensate the, soon to come, lack of light. We turn the tv back on to see if there is anything new, but it's just some rerun of an old series.

At 5pm we are basically done, and Daniel insist we take the chance to shower, since we might be on the road for quite a while. He takes his sweet time, as I watch the last half hour of a romantic comedy that started two hours ago. When its my turn I try to be as quick as possible, but the sun is already setting when I get out.

We get down to the reception, and I praise that lord once again that they accept cash, after our lame excuse about our cards being frozen.

"Okay, I'm just going to run the whole thing through the system, it'll only take a minute." Our lovely red headed friend from the first day is back, smiling as ever. I even offer her a smile, making up form my behavior, and thoughts, towards the woman last time. "Alright then, you can be on your way."

"Thank you." We turn to leave, as blue flashes enters the glass doors.
