It was nine o'clock in River Town and the people gathered at the middle school. To remember what had happened years before on May 11, 2006. It was the day that a middle school student went missing and then was found dead but, no one knows who killed him. It is the first anniversary, the family wanted people to attend but, few showed.
The anniversary was being held in the school's gymnasiums. The parents of the child did not show. The student council was seated on the stage. Many of other students sat in the front row. The people who gathered consisted of the victim's friends. "Where's Josh." said the a teenage female . "He said, he work to do and wasn't coming." the teenage male sitting next to her replied. "You know what, you should call him Jon." the girl continued. "But, he said he was busy so, if you want him to come down here. You can go call him yourself, Laurie." Jon said. "Fine, I will." Laurie responded while moving past to go outside.
"Ring, ring" sounded Josh's phone."Hey, Laurie what's up." he said. "Nothing, by the way where are you?" she asked. While taking a seat on his couch he responded. "I'm at home. Why?". "Well..." she began. "I was wondering if you would come out to the school. You know for the anniversary." she finished. Josh sighed. "I can't I have to much to do." he said while turning on the TV to watch a football game. Laurie didn't responded for a good minute or two. "Are you still there?" he asked. "Yeah, I was just greeting someone." she said. "Back to the our topic. It wouldn't kill you to come out here. After all you did kind of bully him." she finished waiting for him to disagree. "Your right, I'll be out there in about fifteen minutes. So save me a seat." he said while hopping off the couch. "Alright, see you soon. Bye." Laurie said fallowing up by hanging up.
Josh walked up the wooded stories to his room. He grabbed his sweatshirt and turned off his desk light. Then his phone went off, "ding, ding" Josh then grabbed his phone to check who it was. The message was from a unknown number but, still checked the message. It read. "You better run along know or you'll never get to the anniversary." wondering who it was he replied back. "Who is this?" he asked. With in a minute the person replied. "Why are you asking for my identity. Because you really should be asking me...were I am." it read. "Why would I ask you that?" he said. "The reason for asking is so you know where I am...in your house." Josh's eyes widened. Then he heard a noise come from downstairs. After the mysterious sound, another text was sent to him. "I think you should go check out that noise." it said.
Hesitating to move Josh finally began to move towards his door. On the way out of his bedroom he grabbed on of his football trophies. "Hello." he said in a low tone. Slowly walking down the stairs, his heart started to race. Reaching the final step he notice that one of the plant pots were knocked on to the floor. Moving over to the clay shattered pot with dirt around it. He placed his trophy on the end table to pick up the mess.
Josh picked up what he could and rushed to the kitchen to dispose of the pot pieces. Turning around he felt like something was missing. Before realizing what it was his phone went off. "Ding, ding" it was a message from the same person. "It looks I have a new trophy for my collection." it said under a picture of Josh's football trophy. He looked up to only noticed that the trophy on the table was gone. Looking around the area he couldn't see anybody in the house. He took another look at the picture and saw something behind the trophy. Josh's eyes almost fell out at the sight of his T-shirt in the picture. Before turning around all the lights in the house went out. "If someone is here this would be the best time to kill me." Josh said to himself.
Using his phone as a light source Josh still decided to look behind him. He reached for one the knifes on the counter to defend himself. Noticing nothing but darkness and no mysterious person he sighed. Then all of the sudden "crash" his trophy (that mysteriously disappeared) just went through the glass door. Josh slid over to the counter and ducked down. A few minutes past and nothing walked through the shattered door. "Ding, ding" his phone went. The text this time was from Laurie. "Were in the world are you. I thought you said you were coming. I hope you drop dead...jerk." it read. Hurt by her digital words he noticed something in the corner of his eye. It...it was a shadow.
Looking around the corner of the kitchen counter he noticed a mysterious figure standing in the living room. The person just looked around and then walked towards the front door. This was was his chance. Josh got up and tiptoed to the broken door. "Ouch!" he shouted, when he step on the glass. The mysterious person turned his body to only see there victim.
Josh noticed the person was now facing him. He picked up his trophy and throw it the intruder as the person stepped closer. Then he throw the knife which missed the target. All Josh could see was the person's mask. The mask had blood like scar lines and deep dark eye holes. The masked person then revealed a knife in his hand. Josh quickly ran to the stairs but was cut off. Running back to the kitchen Josh searched for anything that could be used as a weapon. He turned around to noticed the person was gone, like if he just vanished. Walking slow he noticed the blood from his stabbed foot was staining the floor. Looking around to stay alert he saw that the front door was open.
Moving towards it he kept looking behind him. Almost near the door and then, "whoosh" the closet door flung open. Out jumped the masked person who stabbed Josh in his right shoulder. Josh tripped and fell onto the floor. The person then stood above him, and just looked at him. Josh tried to stop from bleeding out. The person then picked him and turned him around. Josh was screaming. "No, please don't." he was then silenced when the person cut off Josh's head from his body. Then the person just left the house letting the headless body bleed out and be discovered by his parents.
