It is always interesting listening to how boy-meet-girl, girl falls for boy they fall in love blah blah blah. Well here I am telling you my story, trust me it is a little bit different.
Hello hi. I'm Charlotte Bell, but everyone calls me Charlie. I am 20 and currently studying at Kings College in London. I have lived in London my whole life. Notting Hill to be exact. I have loved living here; there is so much culture and life in one city that it never gets boring. Most days you can find me wandering the streets of London after class, soaking in what the city has to offer. I'm one of those girls, the one who tries to take in every aspect of what is around her... I'm a details person.
One day I was wandering past the BBC headquarters. What drew me there were the large crowds of teenage girls screaming and freaking out. So as I strolled past I noticed a group of four boys dressed really well behind the barrier being interviewed. I ended up walking up to one of the fangirls asking who they were and she said, "Oh-em-gee that is The Vamps!!"
The Vamps. The name sounded familiar but I could have just heard one of my classmates talking about them before. Do not get me wrong I love music. I am studying Digital Culture at university in hopes to one day be in charge of social media for a record label. I listen to music like The Kooks, Arctic Monkey's or The 1975. I'm not really much of a mainstream music girl, but that does not mean I don't listen to it. I made a mental note to check out The Vamps on Spotify when I got home.
I kept walking; I was meeting one of my friends, Syd, at the Topshop off Oxford Circus. We shopped for a while and I ended up buying a pair of boyfriend jeans, a shift dress and a new phone case. With our purchases in hand, Syd and I decided to walk back towards the BBC and grab lunch at Pizza Express.
On our way there someone bumped into me and I dropped my things. It was one of the boys from earlier, one of The Vamps, the curly dark-haired one.
"Oh wow I am sorry," he said.
"Oh no it is alright, I was not paying attention." I said reaching for my bag.
"My apologies, I did not hurt you did I?" He put his hand on my arm and looks into my eyes. It kind of stunned me a little, his eyes were beautiful. Usually brown eyes don't stand out to me, but his did. They were vibrant and full of life. I snapped out of it and finally responded.
"No," I laughed. "I am totally fine."
"I'm Brad." He reaches his hand out to shake mine. His touch gave me chills, and I think he noticed. His accent was different than mine. He had a lovely Brummie accent.
"Well hello Brad. I'm Charlie. Nice bumping into you." I chuckled.
He laughed and said, "Well I have to get going it was nice to meet you."
And like that he was gone. Such a casual encounter but I knew now that I was going to be a big fan of The Vamps. I totally had forgot I was with Syd. When I turned to look at her, her mouth was wide open.
"What?!" I said.
"Charlie, do you know who that was?"
"I mean yeah, his name is Brad."
"Yeah from The Vamps!" She squealed. "You were so casual. He was so into you!"
I laughed, "Yeah right Syd. It was just some run in on the street."
Syd and I went into Pizza Express. We chatted over lunch and some drinks. We decided with the great day I was having that it would be the best opportunity to go out tonight.
Later that night I was over at Syd's flat getting ready for our night out. Syd was blasting The Vamps because she was so appalled earlier that I had never listened to them. I mean they are fun and catchy.
I was wearing a maroon flowy dress with lace up Steve Madden heels. Syd was in a black romper and Jeffery Campbell heels. Needless to say, we looked good and we both needed a good night out.
We went to the Roxy and met up with a few more friends there. I love the Roxy because cover is so cheap, and their music is always great. Syd and I went up to the bar to order drinks when I felt a hand on the small of my back.
