I watch, completely frozen, as some type of film flows from her body.
William looks at it, and I watch as memories of our time together goes by.
Us laughing and smiling together, her sleeping at her desk, me tucking her in when she was younger.
My heart sinks and a few tears escape my eyes as the images disappear, and I realize that my mistress is once again gone.
A sob escapes my throat and I fall to my knees, my hair covering my face as William stands in front of me.
"I did not think you were still here. How disappointing that you had to see that."
I can't move my eyes from the ground as tears continue to pour from my eyes.
How can he say something like that?
He walks away without another word and I'm all by myself once again.
She's gone. Forever this time.
The one person who understood me has been stolen from me.
"My lady." I whisper, my voice shaking, "I'm so sorry. I wasn't able to protect you."
My eyes move to the spot where she last stood and I notice a small, shiny object in the dirt.
Upon closer inspection, I recognize it as the locket Madison wore in remembrance of her mother.
I carefully pick up the small piece of jewelry and hold it close to my heart before standing to my feet, stumbling slightly.
"Y/N." I turn my head to see Ciel and Sebastian standing a few feet away.
"Hello."
"I'm...I'm very sorry about Lady Atow." Ciel says softly and my gaze falls.
"It's not your fault. Death must come to all of us at some point." My voice breaks off at the end of the sentence.
"Please do not worry about me. I will be just fine." I turn and begin back toward my home before Sebastian appears in front of me.
"My dear, my master and I agree that it would not be best for you to return home right now."
"Hm? I have duties to tend to."
"Please Y/N," Ciel steps forward, "come with us." His eyes meet mine and I sigh.
"Okay."
He gives a small smile and takes my hand, leading me toward his manor with Sebastian following behind.
TIME SKIP
"You can stay in this room." Sebastian opens the door for me and I make my way inside.
"Thank you." I bow my head.
"Sebastian I need you to take care of some things in that he garden. I've left a list in the kitchen." Ciel says, stepping into the room.
"Yes my lord." The butler bows before existing and Ciel makes his way over to me.
"Y/N, I hope you'll be comfortable here."
"I always enjoy your company, Ciel." A small smile forms on my lips.
"That...makes me happy." His eyes move to the window and he's quiet for a few minutes.
