"Vroom vroom," Devin revved.
"Vroom vrooom," I revved. We aimlessly drove our hot-wheels across the carpet road not looking at all where we were going when our tiny aluminum cars collided.
"Crash!" Devin yelled then we both looked up at each other in awe. Then immediately down at our utter most fascinating vehicles.
"The new purple '93 camaro!!!" Devin gasped.
"The classic Beatnik Bandit...IN HOT PINK!" I gasped. We remained frozen, eyes glued to the cars, and mouths agape.
"CAN I HOLD IT!?" We asked yearning for just a touch on each other's cars. We quickly exchanged our hot wheels. I stroked the beautiful paint job on Devin's car. Devin rolled mine around.
"I'm bursting with excitement!" Devin exclaimed.
I looked up at Devin in concern. "That sounds painful!" I told him.
"It's an expression silly," Devin explained.
"Oh. Well then I'm bursting with excitement too!" I exclaimed.
"Do you wanna trade!?" Devin asks eagerly.
"Ooh! I'd love to but are you sure? I mean she's just so perfect I wouldn't want to make you do something you'd regret," I replied.
"I'm positive I've been wanting one of these!" Devin said.
"Then it's a trade," I stated.
"Oh boy thanks! I'm Devin and you are," Devin asked me.
"I'm Megan," I replied.
"Well Megan I haven't met a lot of pretty girls that like hot wheels before," Devin said.
"You think I'm pretty?" I beamed.
"Yeah," Devin admitted bashfully. Devin's cheeks began to to turn all sorts of pink.
"Well I think you're cute," I said.
"Really!" He beamed.
"Mmhmm," I affirmed as I nodded my head yes.
"I've never met someone that's made me feel this way," Devin told me.
"What way?" I asked.
"Kinda like I have to fart," He replied.
I immediately turned my body away from him. "Eww gross!" I said in disgust.
"Not-not like a bad fart! Like a good fart that makes me feel all fuzzy and warm inside when you talk to me," Devin confirmed.
I turned back around. "I feel exactly the same when I talk to you!" I beamed
"I have a secret I need to tell you," Devin whispered to me.
"So do I," I whispered back.
"You go first," Devin said.
"No you," I said back. There was a silence and then we said it.
"I Like You!" We told each other.
"I Like You too!" I admitted. Then Devin suddenly wrapped his arms around my tiny body. Then I embraced him back. I smiled ear to ear. Is this what mommy and daddy feel I wondered.
"Well you know what this means," I said.
"Oh one second," Devin said. He then ran to the arts and crafts table and started writing. I waited on the carpet for him to get back. Devin ran back with paper in hand.
"Here," He breathed out of exhaustion from running across the kindergarten classroom. He handed me the paper and a crayon.
It read: Bi sining this contract I promiss 2 liek Devin to ifinee and beyon and be a good gurlfrend and not giv him cooties.
Sin hir: __________
I signed with purple crayon and it was official I was Devin's girlfriend.

For the next 2 days Devin and I played together at playtime, shared cookies at snack time, and even napped together like mommies and daddies do. It was the longest relationship I'd ever had. It then came that time our first play date!
"Megan, Megan, Megan!" Devin yelled.
"What what I'm right here!" I yelled from right next to him. We were drawing at the art table.
"My mommy and your mommy set us up a play date," He cheered.
"Wow that's a big step are you sure we're ready?" I asked.
"Well of course I mean we are on our 3rd day of being together," Devin answered.
"I guess you're right. I can't wait!" I said.
Later that day I was picked up by Devin's mom. Her van was kinda like my mom's van except a lot less Cheetos on the floor. I held hands with Devin the whole car ride. It was so romantic.
When we got to Devin's house we immediately hit the backyard. Not only did he have a swing set but he had a trampoline... A TRAMPOLINE!!! Amazing right. We swung on the swings and jumped on the trampoline but that wasn't the best part. We played in the mud! We turned on the water and made a mud pool.
"Hey Megan I found another worm!" Devin told me.
"Here hand it over I'll put it with the rest," I responded. Devin picked up the earthworm and dropped it in my palm and I ran to the worm pile. This was my mistake because I fell straight into the mud and it hurt like a lot.
"Owe!" I wailed. I cried and cried. I sat up and held my right ankle. It hurt most.
"Oh gosh are you okay?" Devin asked anxiously.
"Uh un," I sobbed as I held my ankle.
"Here let me see," Devin said as he put his hand out to hold my muddy ankle. He held my ankle up to his puckered lips and kissed it better. "Better?" Devin asked.
"Better," I answered with a sniffle.

Now like most 6 year old relationships we didn't last forever. Devin moved that summer. Was I sad? Yes, but that sadness didn't last forever. I thought I'd never see him again but now at age 27 something miraculous happened.
I was at Starbucks ordering my usual when I heard this "The Classic Beatnik Bandit... IN HOT PINK!!!" This came from a vividly familiar man who was looking at the car on my key chain.
I looked at his key chain and said, "The new purple '93 camaro!!!" And we both smiled at each other.
