CHAPTER FOUR

We finally pull up to a place filled with loads of palm trees.
"We're here,"Alex says.
He comes over to my side to open the door. What a gentleman..he's probably just trying to impress me. I get out, grab my stuff and straighten my skirt. He offers his arm and I link our arms together. The place is rather quiet and then I see a table set for two in a white crotchet looking shed. Its lit by christmas lights. I feel my insides warm.
He looks at me and smiles a small nervous smile. We get to the shed and he pulls a chair for me.
"You planned this in two hours?"
"Yes I did, do you like it?"
"I love it, no guy has ever done this for me so more bonus points for you."
I see him blush. What a softie!!
"I have to ask though have you been planning to do this for months, you bumping into me at the beach and all that, you've probably been stalking me."
He just sits there staring at me and I feel like I'm shrinking in my seat.
"You have really beautiful lips,"he says.
I can feel my eyes widening.
WHAT THE HELL WAS HE DOING LOOKING AT MY LIPS ANYWAY??
He starts laughing and reach over the table to smack his arm.
"It was just a compliment geez Kenz!!"
"I know but that's a really touchy topic."
"Okay okay I get it..goshhh that hit was strong."
He lets out this sexy throaty laugh.
My heart stops for a moment.
We opens the champagne that has just been sitting there, well it was cooling but geez I needed to taste the stars. For some reason champagne reminds of The Fault In Our Stars. He pours me a glass and immediately it hits my tongue I let out a small satisfied moan. Alex looks at me inquisitively.
"This is so good,"I say.
"Indeed,"he says.
"So how come we only met today..I know everyone who goes to that beach 'cause I'm a regular?"he asks.
"I only moved back here a few days ago."
"Where did you live before you moved back?"
"Uhhhhmmmm Canada."
"That's really cool."
"Not when you've literally lived half your life away from home."
"Still cool...you sound so bratty right now. So many people would die to be in your shoes."
"Well its tiring and I'm never able to make friends you know."
"If you put it that way then it makes sense."
The food arrives and it's one of my faves..three cheese mac'n'cheese.
"I hope you like Mac'n'Cheese, I just decided to wing it."
"You're lucky cause I love Mac'n'Cheese."
We both dig in. We talk in between bites.
My phone starts buzzing and its my mother. I excuse myself and leave the table. I can feel his eyes on me as I walk. I answer the phone.
"Hey ma.."
"How's your date going?"
I roll my eyes.
"Is that what you called to ask, really mum?"
"Answer me.."
"It was going great before you ruined it."
"Well sorry Ms. Grumpy Pants. I called to tell you that your father and I are leaving town tonight, we need to handle some business back in Canada and we didn't want to trouble you and your siblings 'cause we just got back not so long ago."
"Sure thing mum."
"Stay safe and take care of your siblings, the two smaller munckins will probably be going to grandmas house in a day or two...if not the nanny will be coming tomorrow."
"Got it..stay safe too and tell dad I said hello and bye."
"I'll Facetime you when we get there. Bye sweetie!!"
"Bye mother! Love you"
"Love you more."
I end the call and walk back to the table.
"Who was that?"
"You love asking questions, don't you?"
"Yes, yes I do."
"It was my mum, just telling me her and dad are leaving tonight."
"Are you ready to leave?"
"Yes I am."
"Let's go."
We link our arms together once again. When we get to the car he opens my car door and I slide in. He gets in on his side and starts the engine.
"Thank you for dinner Alex, it was lovely!"
"No problem, anything for you beautiful."
He needs to stop with the name calling. *secretly wishes he could continue with the names*
"You're taking a wrong turn!"
I start panicking.
"I know."
"Are you kidnapping me? Please don't I'll do anything"
He giggles.
"No I'm not kidnapping you but I won't let the you doing anything pass."
I relax a little.
"Where are we going then?"
"You'll see love."
He stops the car and he gets out and comes over to my side to open my door.
"Well you opening two doors must be tiring."
"Not at all, its my job no matter how tiring. I told you anything for you."
From where I stand I can see part of the city...we're on some cliff..and the view is magnificent.
"I used to come here with my little brother before he died."
I don't want to say something insensitive so I just ask, "When did he die?"
He goes quiet for a bit and then breathes out.
"He died 6 months ago in a car crash. I was driving and the car got hit by the pasenger seat, he was okay for a while and he wss actually getting better until one day. He slept and just never woke up. The doctors said they didn't know what was happening and I was so upset that day. I was devastated when I received the news."
He's eyes were glistening and could the tears well up in his eyes. I pulled him in for a hug, his height wasn't helping.
I wondered why he was telling me all this, we'd only met hours ago.
"I feel like I've known you a long time you know,"he says as if reading my mind.
I smile at that.
We lay in comfortable silence.
"Let's go home," I say,"we need to cheer you up."
He looks at me as if questioning me.
"Come on lets go, its 02 in the morning there's no room for sadness at this hour Alex, say yes."
"Okay fine."
"Yayyyy..!!!"
