Thats all I remember.
"Are you sure that's all you can recall?" asked the police inspector.
"Yes, I'm sure. There's nothing else," I replied looking out the hospital window.
"I think that's enough now officer. You've been here long enough and I think you have all the information you need. Now can you just let her get some rest?" my mother rhetorically asked.
"Right. if you remember anything else, give me a call."
And with that, the tall figured, well uniformed inspector left. Folding his pocket sized notepad and pen into his jacket pocket. The last thing I saw of him was his long to-the-floor length, grey fitted jacket.
The room I was in, was a good size. There were machines connected to me. Beeping continuously every second. i raised my hand to my head. Felt it and put it down; It was bandanged around. I could careless what I looked like. As long as I got better quick and was soon able to get out of here.
"Get some sleep," my mom advised as she kissed me on the forehead and sat in the chair facing me.
It was only 4 in the afternoon. I wasn't tired but I couldn't be bothered to argue with her. Not today. Not now. I wanted to turn onto my side but I was restricted by the wires. Damn you, I thought. I absolutely hated sleeping on my back but I kept my mouth closed. I closed my eyes like I've done a million times before and wished to dream. I began to fall into sleep and it took its grasp.
I'm on a farm. In between the tall crops; running. I don't know why. I can't stop because for some reason I don't want to or I couldn't. It felt like I wasn't able to control my legs. They just ran. I heard footsteps behind me. I was being chased. But who was chasing me here? I was too scared to look behind but I forced myself and turned my head back. The footsteps stopped. There was nothing. I smiled to myself, thinking it was just my imagination. Pretending everything was okay. I turned my head back to its original place and screamed.
I awoke sitting up abruptly. I was sweating. Breathing heavily. I could feel my heart, as if it wanted to escape from my body. I know what I had just seen.
I realised it was dark. It felt like the darkness had its grasp on me. I looked to my left and the chair that my mother was in was no longer occupied. I sat back and rested my head on the soft, white, wave like crumpled pillows. I was lost in my thoughts. Staring into the darkness. Not knowing that someone or something was lurking between the darkest corners of the hospital room. Watching me and my every move.
