Chapter Eight

It had been a week since the incident at the bar and Rick was taking Randall away from the farm with Shane, while everyone else was doing their own thing on the farm.

"Hey, ass hat" Catherine says as she pushes Carl's hat over his face he laughs "Hey!" she sits down next to him on the ground under one of the trees 

"Whatcha doing?" she points to the paper he was writing down on "Oh mom gets me to do all school work" he says she nods "Sounds boring but smart, your mom's making lunch with Maggie" she says he nods 

"You hungry?" she asks "Uh, a little bit" he says looking at her putting his pencil down "Come on then" she says standing up holding her hand out for Carl to take, he smiles taking her hand and pulling himself up.

"You did not throw up stop being dramatic" Catherine laughs at Carl as they enter the house "Okay maybe I didn't but it was still gross, I mean have you ever tried soy milk?" Carl asks her 

"Nope" she says grabbing some fruit "Well I am sure you would throw up" he laughs sitting down next to her "Hmm, okay maybe" she says 

"What are you two doing?" Katie asks as she enters the kitchen "Just chatting" Catherine says "Uh-huh" Katie sits across from them watching Carl closely "How's Beth doing?" 

Katie takes a bite of her apple "Lori gave her some lunch so I'm not sure, I think she's okay though" She says Catherine nods "That's good then" Katie continues to stare at Carl and then Catherine smiling "Um, you know I should probably go find my mom and make sure she's had lunch" Carl nervously says getting up "Oh okay, see you later?" Catherine asks "Yeah, yeah of course" 

"Well that was strange" Catherine says looking over to Katie who was lightly laughing "What?" Catherine asks "You two are oblivious" Katie says taking another bite of her apple 

"Oblivious to what?" Catherine raises a brow "Well I can't tell you that, it's for both of you to figure out" Katie laughs walking out of the kitchen leaving Catherine alone and confused.

"What's he gonna do? Kill me for committin' suicide?" Catherine stops in front of the bedroom where Beth is

"Stop being such a brat. He'd die. So would I. This isn't just about you" Maggie says. Catherine walks into the room "Hey what's going on?" Maggie raises her index finger indicating for Catherine to wait 

"We all lost mom" 

"And we lose each other and I couldn't stand that" Beth says 

"So you give up?" Maggie asks, Catherine leaned against the wall remembering when Maggie also had this discussion with her

"Yes!" Beth yells at her Catherine sighs and walks out of the room knowing that both of them were about to argue, She sits on the step outside Beth's room waiting for the arguing to die down.

"You are being so selfish!" Maggie yells "They still arguing?" Katie asks as she joins Catherine "Yep" Catherine sighs 

"You think we should get Marzia to try to defuse the tension?" Katie asks "I don't know maybe we should leave this one, plus they aren't yelling now." Catherine says

Katie nods leaning her head on Catherine's shoulder.

Andrea walks past the Dixon twins straight to Beth's room leaving a small knock on the door before entering "Great Andrea to the rescue" Katie joked 

"Maggie?" Katie says as the girls watch Maggie come out "Hey, uh you two hear all that?" the girls both nod "Where are you going?" Catherine asks

Maggie sighs "Um, Andrea said she will watch Beth for me while I quickly do some things" "Oh okay, well if you need anything let us know?" Katie says Maggie nods and smiles before walking away.
