"netflix and chill, more like IKEA and chill. Minus the netfilx and add a few friends with mexican food. And I guess get rid of the chill too."
Day twenty one out of five hundred and thirty eight.
Running into Lex while at IKEA with Jack was not how I wanted to start my day. She already looks angry, her fists balled up and her eyebrows pulled together. She looks as if she was going to complain to the manager, the sound of her small heels angrily clacking on the ground as she runs away from us.
"Someone is angry." Jack laughs as he looks at the bedspreads, his dimples popping out. How someone was so happy at nine in the morning, I don't know.
"I wish the best of luck to whoever she's after." I respond, cracking a smile at him, while he just shakes his head and runs his hands through his dirty blonde hair.
"So after we buy everything, you wanna get the gang together and put these together while eating way to much Mexican food?" He gestures to the carts we have full of a desk, bed frame, and dressers. I nod, happy at his choice of food.
"God bless you Jack Dail." I laugh, patting his shoulder and taking the first white bedspread I see. We silently walk towards the checkout, both of us pushing one cart.
"Netflix and chill, more like IKEA and chill.Minus the netflix and add friends with Mexican food. And I guess get rid of the chill too." Jack says, causing me to shake my head.
"Jack?"
"Yeah?"
"Shut up."
"Hey, I got an idea." Jack stops, causing me to run the cart into his.
"That's never good." I laugh, Jack rolling his eyes at me, leaning his pale arms on the cart. "sorry, what is it?"
"I will give you twenty dollars if you shotgun that can of pop." He points to the can that was on one of the shelves, the price tag brightly reading two dollars.
"You have a deal."
I ended up winning the twenty dollars, which he rewards me with while the whole group is sitting around on the floor.
"Here's your stupid money." Jack grumbles as he hands me the money sitting across from me on the floor.
"Oh yeah man! Thanks dude." I gladly take the money and put it in my back pocket, sticking my tongue out at Jack.
"Why did you just get twenty bucks?" Nick asks, taking the instructions from Christian and raising his eyebrows at the paper.
"It's upside-down, sweetie." I smile, grabbing the crumbled paper before turning it so it's easier for him to read. "and because I shot gunned a pop."
"Anyway, Who's ordering our food?" Everyone's fingers flew to their noses, trying to be 'safe'. Of course, I was too late. I hated ordering food, mostly because my anxiety.
"Oh no, she has anxiety, she can't order it. I will, just write it down and I got it." Nick quickly answers, not even thinking twice about it before setting the manual down.
Everyone nods and eagerly writes down their orders, Christian nudging Emily and laughing at what he wrote down.
Michael Mancari is literally the ugliest trash I have ever seen, he makes me want to vomit. But if I did, it would look exactly like him.
"Christian what the heck! That is not true. I am cute, right Bri?" Mike turns to his girlfriend with the amazing gray hair, who just reads it and shrugs. Mike gasps and looks at the rest of us with his mouth open, everyone giggling.
"Arabella? At least say you're on my side." Mike looks at me with pleading eyes, while I just give him a weak smile. "What! I am the cutest here!" Mike argues, looking at all of us shocked.
"Sorry dude, but Arabella is." Jack eats a chip before looking at me, his eyes sparking. I shake my head and look down, trying to hide the light blush.
"Oh shush." If I'm going to be honest, I wish Nick would have said it. I've tried so hard to get over him, but I can't. Even ask Gray, I cried in my room for weeks at the thought of Nick moving on. And my worst nightmare came true; Nick is in an abusive relationship, and I haven't tried to do anything.I'm such a bad friend.
"What it's true! You're adorable." Jack leans forward and pinches my cheek.
"I'm going to order the food." Nick grips onto the paper and storms out of the room. Everyone watches him as he leaves, going back to their work once he's gone.
It has been five minutes, and we all knew it didn't take that long to order. I decide to check on him, being genuinely concerned .
"Hey, you okay?" Nick was sitting outside in the May air, trying to light a cigarette. The flame lights the end of it to a red glow, his large fingers holding the stick between them.
"Why wouldn't I be?" He lets out a puff of smoke, leaning on the side of the house with his left foot against it. I shrug, leaning next to him and watching as he brings it to his plump lips. He raises an eyebrow at me, waiting for my answer.
"I don't know, I was making sure you were okay." I mumble, suddenly feeling vulnerable under his hard gaze.
"Listen," Nick scoffs, taking another long drag of his cigarette. "I don't need your help. I don't need you looking out for me twenty- four seven, okay? I'm not as weak as you think." His smoke was blown over to the side, covering the bright sky with light gray smoke for a few seconds. My heart sinks at his words, watching as he stomps out the cigarette. He turns fully to me, taking his foot off the wall and sighing.
"Don't worry your pretty little head unless I tell you something is wrong, got it?"
"Um, yeah." I answer weakly, looking at the bruises on his arms. He looks down to see what I'm looking at before pulling his sleeves back down.
"You didn't see anything, and I'm fine." Nick points at me menacingly before leaving.
Fall Out Boy once said 'seasons change but people don't' but they are wrong, Nick Robinson has changed, he wasn't the one I used to know.
