Chapter 3 – The Club
After taking Angie and Connor to the airport I went to my favourite coffee shop and ordered the usual which is a cappuccino and a toasted bacon and chees.
I sat there and waited for Valery and Steve to arrive, when they arrived I told Valery that lately Jed has been paying too much attention to me and I can’t understand why. “Are you serious about this Serena?” she asked, “Yes I am, but last night at the party I told him off.” I replied.
Jed POV
I woke up this morning thinking of Serena why I do not know I mean after what she said to me last night, it actually hurt when she said it. Come on Jed snap out if it I told myself, how I can let one girl affect me this bad. This isn’t like me who am I kidding after seeing her like that she looked amazing.
I felt a bit terrible after what I said to her, but I mean I was hurt after what she said. I got up and went down stairs my little sister Blair came running to me to give me a hug, she is all I have left after our dad walked out on us and our mom was killed by our step dad, he beat my mom to death and he use to beat my little sister to and he molested her.
After what happened I couldn’t stand seeing a guy hit a girl it awakened anger in me that I couldn’t control. The house we were living in was left for us after our mothers dead I had have to get a job to help us survive, even though we get a little salary for the main things we had a few other needs. So I have job at one of the biggest clubs Club 57 I work there every week except on a Friday and Sunday.
I heard my phone ring and put Blair on the couch to let her watch her favourite show Scooby-doo, I looked at my phone and it was James. “Morning James” I said, “Hey man, I wanted to ask you why did you look like you were going to murder someone last night?” he asked, great just what I needed him reminding me of Serena again. “It was nothing, just let it go.” I replied in a stern voice. “Ok man, listen are you working tonight?” he asked me.
I said “Yes I am will I be seeing you there?” he replied “Of course my brother how do you know me.” So we said goodbye and I started making breakfast when Blair came into the kitchen and asked me “Why did you say something in an angry voice over the phone?” I told her “Don’t worry sweetheart it’s nothing just someone that rubbed me up the wrong way.” I looked at her and smiled I gave her some pancakes and sat down drinking some coffee. I got up and went to get dress in my running clothes I left and locked the door I went for a good run, just to get my head clear.
As I got back home I called the next door neighbour and confirmed her looking after Blair well I was at work.
I went for a shower and got ready for work before I left I went and dropped Blair off next door, “See you in a few hours bunny.” I gave her a hug. I drove off and picked up James.
We got to the club and I got straight to work as soon as I walked in I got this random chick all over me and I called the bouncer to get her off, the mood I was in now I wasn’t in the mood for anyone’s shit.
After a few hours a girl with a tight red tank top and some black gypsy pants on walked in, if I must say so I she looked pretty good. As she turned her head I saw who it was, its Serena. I was surprised that she would hang out in a place like this.
I was hoping that she would come up to the bar and ask for something, just to try and make a conversation with her again. She headed for the dance floor and started dancing. James saw me watching her and walked up to me, “You eyeing that outcast why?” he asked me. I gave him a very disapproval look. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately, but I’m so interested in her.” I said. He gave me a smirk and then he said, “You want her don’t you?” I replied “Yes I do.” He didn’t understand how I wanted her and he made a bet with me, “If you could get her into bed in the next two months, I’ll pay your whole spring break.” I looked at him and right then it seemed like a good deal, not paying for anything.
I looked at him and shake his hand.
Serena POV
I went to Club 57 with Valery and Steve, we came here often mostly to just dance and get rid of all the stress. We went to sit down and Steve went to some of his friends. “I’m going to get us some drinks.” I said, “Sure get me a glass of wine.” Valery said. So I made my way to the bar, I stood there and waited for the bar man to turn around, as he did I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was Jed. Great just what I needed, right now rolling my eyes as he walks towards me with a huge smirk on his face.
“Hello beautiful, what can I get you?” he said the anger was building up in me, I replied in a very irritable voice “Two glasses of wine and don’t ever call me that again, like I said I’m not one of your puppets.” He turned around and got me the wine and mumbled something under his voice, I was really not in the mood to strangle it out of him.
I walked away as I got to our table I took a few sips of the wine and went back to the dance floor, grabbing the first sexy guy I could find to dance with. My favourite song finished I went back to Valery and said “I’m going home, not in the mood to be here right now.” She gave me a puppy face to make me stay, but knew it wasn’t going to work. So she said “Alright then I’ll see you on Monday.” So I gave her a hug goodbye and left.
As soon as I got home I found Jerry passed out on the couch and the living room was a mess. I never thought he would be such a messy person, I checked my phone to see if my sister they landed safely but no message. I lied on my bed and got frustrated just thinking of Jed, how he possible could think that I would be interested in him.
I know what his like and I’m not going to let him take advantage of me. I made a mental note, when going to the club watch out for Jed.
I put off all the lights in the house got myself a mug of hot chocolate and went straight to bed.
I just want this on coming nightmare to end, I want to wake up tomorrow morning and know that he would never speak to me like it’s always been. I will get up early tomorrow and go jog to get my head clear from all of this.
