He opened the door; life couldn’t get any worse,
“Hey, Aaron, Katey, Danny and you must be Jake,” James offered his hand out but Jake just sat there looking at him, James shrugged and pulled a chair to sit with us. We all shifted away a bit,
“What do you want Carter?” Ron asked.
“Danielle here knows what I want, so you thought about my offer the other day?” he asked me. Katelyn looked a little surprised a that I knew he was here,
“My answer’s still the same James, I don’t do that anymore, were in Colorado for heaven’s sake. If we were in Dorset I’d accept it any day and I’d still beat you,” I replied, we all know it’s true except Jake.
“So you’re saying if we were in Dorset you’d race me even though you haven’t done it for more than a year now?” he reassured, I just nodded my head.
“Forget it Carter, we’re in Durango, get over it.” Aaron retorted before taking a sip of his hot chocolate.
“Get over it! I can’t, I’ve beaten everyone in Dorset, even in the Grand Finals but someone always mentions Morris. If Morris was here she’d definitely beat him, Morris this and Morris that. So I’m here to prove that Morris won’t beat me and can’t beat me,” he pressured,
“I’m flattered that you’re letting me know that people still appreciate me more than you but for the third time this is Colorado, I’m not scared of getting a restricting order against you again.” James got up and headed for the door, but before he reached the exit,
“Katey, I’m sure I’ll be seeing you again and maybe Rebecca and Em, till next time,” and with that he left. Katelyn started shaking in her chair, she tried picking up her cup but her hand was trembling,
“Don’t worry Kate; we’ll get that restricting order again. He won’t come anywhere near you, you remember the stuff I told you on Wednesday right.” She nodded and calmed down a bit but you could still see her shaking.
“Jake, text your sister now not to leave the house with or without anyone, Aaron you do the same. Tell Em he’s back, he might be in Durango right now but we know he can’t fight his battles, he gets others to do it for him.” Jake nodded and started texting and so did Aaron,
“I’m guessing he bought Tyler,”
“How’d you know?” I asked. Aaron showed me a picture of a Mazda rx8, that wasn’t any random car it was Tyler’s.
“She sent this to me a few days ago but I didn’t think anything of it at first but by talking to Carter now, he’s up to something.” I nodded in agreement.
“Wait, that guy was James?” Jake asked and we nodded,
“He said Grand Finals, racing, you beating him and that car is a Mazda rx8 which belongs to guy called Tyler who’s with James?” he asked again clearing some things, me and Aaron sighed but nodded to confirm what he was saying.
“I might as well explain…” but before I could start Ron interrupted me.
“Not here, come on,” we all got up leaving our drinks on the table and heading for Aaron’s car which was a Ford Focus, I let out a scoff.
“Thought you had better taste,” but in reply I got a glare from him, we got in headed for god knows where. After like 5 minutes we reached an apartment, Jake knocked on the door,
“Coming!” I heard someone scream from inside,
“Ben?” I asked, he was standing there in nothing but a pair of jeans, it was normal for me since I’ve seen him a lot like this.
