Chapter 23

(Y/n)'s POV

~The next day~

I just finished sorting out all the clothes that Catherine had given me. I put on a pair of skinny jeans, a singlet with a checked shirt on the outside and a pair of converse shoes. I tied my hair up in a side ponytail and put on some make up before going downstairs.

"So how was the camp?" Saee asked.
"It was great."
"What are we gonna do today?" asked Rebecca.
"I don't know."
"I hope you don't mind but I invited someone that might be just as strong as you over. He wants a duel with you," Sasha exclaimed.
"Oh okay."

There was a knock on the door. I went to get it. When I opened the door, there was boy around my age standing outside. He had soft brown hair and vibrant blue eyes. His pointed ears indicated that he was an elf. His height was slightly greater than mine.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, your majesty. My name's Scott."
"You wanted a duel?"
"Yes." I called Igneel.
"Are you guys coming?"
"Yes!" Saee called out. We got on before he took us to a plain.
"Thank you." He flew off. I shot ice at Scott but he used plants to block it. Plant magic, huh?
"What else can you do?" I sensed that he had more.
"Let me show you."

Scott shot a ray of light at me but I dodged. Then he sprouted wings but before he could fly, Grey bit them. Scott had a pained look on his face.

"Grey, stay out of this."

He went over to Saee and sat down. I ran over to Scott and kicked him before he even got the chance to fly. But he grabbed my leg and threw me down. I got up and shot arrows at him but he dodged them.

Then sharp vines grabbed my legs and arms. I froze them until they broke but while I was doing that, he went behind me and shot a ray of light at me. It was just below my heart so it healed.

A blizzard surrounded us. It made him shiver. He hugged himself to keep warm. This gave me the chance to hit him. The blizzard ended. Suddenly, he did a really powerful light spell and it hit my heart but when the light faded, I noticed that my friends were injured.

"I thought that this duel was between us."
"Yeah, it is. They just got in the way but it doesn't matter because they're just a bunch of flies," he replied.

What did he just say?! I shot ice daggers at him. It caught him off guard so they hit him. Before he could react, I kicked him, punched him and threw him. I shot ice at him. It got his wings so he was pinned to the ground.

I wanted to kill him but I didn't. I walked over to my friends and called Igneel. I helped my friends get on and told Igneel to take them back. I fell to my knees. Then something went through my heart...it was ice. Scott had stabbed my heart and left. I blacked out.

~At the mansion~

I woke up. "W-what happened?"
"C-Catherine gave you her blood. We tried to stop her but she refused," Rebecca replied then added, "and thanks." I ran downstairs and hugged Catherine. She looked surprised. Her body felt weak.
"Thank you." She smiled.
