As the storm got worse,I took my school jacket out of bag to keep me warm. Then my selfless side kicked and told me that Lizzie would need it more.Keep Lizzie alive was my aim ,therefore I needed to wrap the jacket around her to keep her warm.Poor Lizzie.John ,who refused to admit he couldn't carry Lizzie, had started staggering like a car with one wheel until he finally drew to a halt. So many things were happening and all I wanted to do was keep it simple.
My hopes rose.I had seen a sign for our school 2 miles away.To help John start walking again,I urgently told him.The sign stated 'Storm school 2 miles from the current location of this sign' in bright yellow letters.Ok that is what I would tell myself to keep me going.Grabbing John's hand,I ran the way towards the sign hoping to make him move quicker.Where was Lizzie at this point? Well as John wouldn't let me carry her ,she was over his shoulder her head rolling endlessly.Once we passed the sign, I breathed a sigh of relief. Finally,John was moving.John was moving yes! Then,I felt dust infest on my hair.I thought it was dust but it wasn't.It flew past me in a gush of wind making my eyes sting.Suddenly,I felt it in my mouth dryer than the desert saltier than the sea.Sand.It was sand.
