I finally managed to finish my homework. It took me the full two hours. Luckily I had already gotten ready for school so we had thirty extra minutes to kill. I took a deep breath and began to pack my things. That's when I realized, I forgot my history text book at home. Crap.
I can't go to that class without it. I would be so lost. I don't know anyone in that class either so sharing is not an option for me. It would be so awkward and I just can't do it.
I looked up at Emmett. He was on his phone, he looked as if he were to be playing a game on it. "Emmett?" I said. He looked up. "Yes?" He answered. I swallowed.
"I forgot my history text book at home. I need to go get it." I said biting my lip. He chuckled. "You don't need it." He said and went back to playing his game on his phone.
"Yes, I do." I said staring at him. "Just share with someone." He said. "Okay, well I'll see you at school." I said smiling as I got up. It wont take me long to walk home and to school. I'll make it in time.
"I'm taking you to school today." "Yeah but I need my textbook, I can't share with anyone else. It's awkward." I said. He laughed. "You're weird." "Thanks." I said smiling.
He got up as well. "It's too cold for you to be walking. I'll take you home and then drive you to school. I owe you." He said. My house isn't that far anyways and I don't want to cause a scene. Plus, he does owe me. "Okay. Fine." I said once again. He smiled.
We got in his car and began driving in the direction my house is. "Where do you live?" He asked. "I'll just tell you where to go. Keep going straight and take a right in two blocks." He nodded. "What's your name?" He asked. Oh my god. He doesn't know my name. This is awkward. I know his name. Should I pretend like I don't so he doesn't think I'm a stalker or something? Because I'm not. I mean, I don't think I am. Oh god, I've already said his name. It's too late now.
"Uh, its Dallas." I said awkwardly smiling.
"That's a nice name. I like it. I've never met a girl named Dallas before." He said smiling. "Me either, it's different." I said "It is." He agreed.
He turned up his car stereo. I'm guessing he has his phone connected to the bluetooth on his car because he kept on changing the songs off his phone. That's dangerous. He finally chose a song after a while. 'Money trees' by Kendrick Lamar came on. This is my song. He turned it up.
I instantly started singing along to the entire song. Nothing can hold me back from singing along to an amazing song like this. I was rapping hard core. All Emmett did was glance over at me smiling occasionally, sometimes he would laugh when I would start dancing.
Was I not embarrassed? You may ask. No, I was not embarrassed. I mean Emmett Taylor is so hot. He's the hottest guy I've seen in real life. I don't have a chance with him so I wont be ruining anything anyways. Minus will just treat him like a regular person, like he's not hot even though it's hard sometimes. Although, even if I did have a chance with him, I would not treat him any better than how I treat other people. Everyone is equal in my eyes.
Unfortunately, we got to my street before the song ended so he had to turn the song down as I told him which house was mine. When we pulled up to the drive way he turned off his car and began to get out. "You don't have to get out. This will just take two minutes tops." I said. " I want to meet your family." He said. I laughed. That is actually very sweet.
"It's just my mom and I." I said. He nodded understandingly. "I would love to meet her then." He said smiling. "I don't know if she's back from work yet. She usually parks her car in the garage. Uh, I guess we can check if she's here." I said looking around. Good thing I cleaned my house the day before yesterday. If I wouldn't of, he would of never been able to come in. That would of been a nightmare.
I opened the front door and gestured for him to come in first. My house is pretty small. It's what we could afford. It's a one story with three bedrooms. We use the third bedroom as a storage room since we never have guests over.
"Mom?" I yelled out. "In the kitchen!" She yelled back. Oh god. "I have someone who wants to meet you." I said. "Oh, how lovely! You made a friend!" She said.
Emmett and I walked into the kitchen. Her brown eyes went wide as soon as she saw him. "And it's a boy too! Great choice honey, he's a very good looking one too." She whisper yelled at me while smiling so wide it looked like it hurt. I smiled awkwardly. This is embarrassing.
Emmett laughed a little and stepped closer to my mom. He extended his hand. "I'm Emmett Taylor, Dallas' friend. I just wanted to introduce myself just incase." He said. My mom instantly hugged him as soon as he finished talking. "Any friend of my daughters, gets a hug, not a handshake." She said. He chuckled as they moved apart.
"How was work mom?" I asked. "Busy, once again. There have been so many accidents because of these slippery roads we've been having." She said shaking her head. "That's not good." I said worried. "I know, we can just hope for the best." She answered. "Emmett, do you drive?" my mom asked. He chuckled again. "Yes ma'am, I do." "Be careful out there, use a lot of precaution. The last thing I want is to see any of you at the hospital." She said pointing her finger. "I know mom." I said smiling.
"Did you just get here?" I asked. "Yeah, I got here about ten minutes ago, I just wanted some breakfast before I head to bed." She said. I nodded.
And so, the conversation went on for a good half hour. We all talked about everything. I even found of Emmett has a sister. Who would of known? My mom seems to love him. she has also hinted that Emmett and I would be a cute couple. In which Emmett and I just awkwardly stood there and smiled at her. I'm surprised she didn't embarrass me more than she did. I got lucky.
My mom turned on the news before Emmett and I had the chance to head out. Apparently we were snowed in. Let me repeat that for you. SNOWED IN! As soon as the news reporter said that it was too dangerous to drive because we are expecting a blizzard soon, not only that but the roads were covered in snow too high for cars to drive on them, Emmett and I turned to each other with wide worried eyes.
I ran over to the window and indeed saw that the roads were covered in snow. The snow seemed to be coming down harder too. "Oh my god, we really are snowed in, I'm guessing school is canceled." Emmett walked over to the window I was at. "Shit." He whispered. "I have to make a phone call. Excuse me." He said. He walked over to the kitchen.
I wasn't eavesdropping. Emmett was just talking loud that was all. He was for sure talking to his mom because he kept calling the person on the other end 'Mom'. Go figure.
"Annabelle is at the daycare, the roads are snowed in and I can't leave Mom." His mom then began to talk on the other end of the line. "Oh Jesus, thank you. Tell him I said thank you. How did you know I wouldn't be able to pick her up?.... Oh, you guys wanted to take her to the movies?..... What?" Those were basically the highlights of Emmett's conversation with his mom. I just loved hearing his voice. That is so cute how he was so worried about his little cousin like that. He would make a good dad.
How did all of this end up happening? It all happened so fast too. I barely know the guy. We literally had out first encounter yesterday and he's already at my house and we are snowed in. If only I was an asshole to him, he wouldn't be here right now. I'm actually glad I wasn't. It was nice having someone to talk to other than your mom or your teachers. I liked it. I think we could be good friends.
He's not so bad. I expected him to be the ignorant jerk because of the incident yesterday but he's quite the opposite. It's a big surprise to me. Why me out of all the girls at Jefferson high. Why?
Emmett entered the room while I was thinking and scared the peanuts out of me. I jumped up as he began to laugh. I ended up laughing, he's one of those people who's laugh is contagious, you cant help but laugh as well.
"So, what do you want to do today?" He asked. I thought for a moment. "I got an idea." I said smiling.
Again, this is not edited! Sorry for any mistakes!
