"Sometimes a new beginning is all you need." ~Unknown
~Emily~
Opening the door, which was way heavier than it looked, I take a huge smell of the amazing baked goods. All the warm buttery, sweet smells combine into one glorious smell. All the temptations coming at me from all the senses. Except the visual only because I see who happens to work here.
"Oh hello Miss. Rude, how may I help? Did you want a punch? A kick?" His sarcasm almost beats his ego. Almost.
"Hello Mr. Ego, maybe you need an attitude check while I'll just have camomile tea with a scone. Thanks love." I give him the $5.50 it is and walk away with my book.
Gazing upon the first page taking in every word to heart and every line to mind processing what the surroundings are. I'm completely transformed into the book with a whole new perspective and personality with different thoughts ideas. All of it came all at once that I forgot I ordered, which I do a lot, and he placed my tea and scone done in front of me while smiling. Slightly cringing I forgot how manners work, my mother would have killed me.
"Thank you, I apologize for being rude earlier. Also for hitting you." I look at him smiling, politely not romantically of course, not that he wasn't smile worthy.
"Your welcome. To be completely honest, I'm not usually rude. At least I'd like to think so anyways. But I'd like to remedy that, may I offer you a free muffin?" His dimples almost convincing me to say yes but I won't because I'm still slightly annoyed. I know I was the one to hit him on the head.
"Do you have chocolate chip?" Looking with my best puppy dog eyes I can make, his dimples are greeted with a light but noticeable blush on his cheek bones.
"Indeed we do, may I interest you in one?" He is polite, I'll give him that, it's not that I like him any more than I did before. I'm just more accepting of his existence than I was before, which is a step up for him. Again I am aware of me hitting him, and starting the whole thing.
He sits the muffin down and I say a quick thank you and drink my tea while jumping back into my book. The plot engulfs me and my surroundings. I find my self here for hours only feeling like minutes. All I can hear is the mellow music that plays through the café until I hear someone clearing their throat.
"Umm, Emily I hate to break your concentration but we are closing so I'm going to ask, I am not t-trying to be rude I-I promise. Going to ask you to, umm, to leave." He stutters quiet a few times but after what seemed of a million years he finishes and smiles at me.
"Alright then Harry, have a nice evening." I smile at him with tired eyes and realizing I am almost done my book. My eyes wonder to my watch to see it's 1:45 am and I look up to him.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier you guys have been closed for hours." I rush frantically to clean my spot up. Smoothing out my maroon dress I grab my plate and cup to bring around the corner to wash them up. I felt very sharp pains on each side of me causing me to jump and scream. A burst of laughter forms behind me as I shoot the quiff haired boy behind me.
"You asshole, why though? Oh my god that fucking hurt." Holding my sides as I'm about to give birth. His stance still hasn't changed but his expression did, from hysterical laughter to just laughter. He's quick to stand tall and fix his hair, which wasn't damaged in the first place. His height towers over mine, I'd like to think I was at least average height at 5'6 but compared to him, who seemed to be a damn giant, I was an itty bitty small fairy.
"Oh come on now, just trying to lighten you up. Jeez, you looked concentrated on your book an I didn't want to interrupt you." He holds his head low with a slight blush on his face which couldn't be more adorable. The tattoos on his arms would mislead you, and he seemed to have gotten a hair cut, which was a plus for him in my books.
"Well that's really nice of you but I've got to get home to my girlfriend who's waiting for me. Who has been waiting for four hours but that's beside the point. So if you don't mind I'm going to head out, thank you for being sweet and have a nice evening." Walking to the door I look for my keys and grab my coat, it was freezing out. I open the heavy door and stride out to see my one and only girlfriend in her car waiting for me. The only thing is, she wasn't waiting for me
The look on her face was different than mine, she was excited to see whoever was talking in her window. The next thing I see is her face leaning up to whoever's face was above hers and I could physically feel my heart break, no shatter like a baseball to a window. I could walk over there and confront her right there and then, or I could wait at home, which will be my home in a few hours. Obviously the second option would be a way better story to say on why my girlfriend doesn't exist anymore.
Walking down this cold street this amazing well lit night is refreshing and lovely. The cold air fills my lungs and frames my face as I make my way through this honourable city. Of course the one person who takes over my thoughts is the forbidden name Catherine, a soon to be a forbidden person to see.
Finally making it to my apartment I unlock the door to see the room empty, no one there. No trace of someone here, which probably meant she's never even been home at all today. I pour a glass of red wine and slip my coat off. I sit on my armchair and hear a lock being fumbled with, a familiar face being sucked on. I clear my throat and look at her with the most unimpressed look I can make.
"This isn't what it looks like. I can promise you." Her eyes pleading me to believe her, which I already don't.
"So must have been a good date then, or hook up session, I don't care. Cause who kisses in a car and outside her girlfriends apartment? That's real interesting isn't it? I just can't believe you didn't tell me, I mean if you weren't happy why didn't you tell me?" I can already hear the crack in my voice and a tear roll down my cheek. As much as I hate to believe it, she didn't love me, never did. Because if she did she would have told me a long time ago. The look on her face looks faker than Kim K's new ass, the gleam I once seen in her eyes looked dead since forever ago. I'm only assuming that the love I once had for her blinded me beyond all repair.
"Cath, I want you out by the end of the week, and please don't fight me on this. I can't handle a fight right now. So have a good life, I hope you have that happiness you need. Goodnight." I walk up to the sink and put the glass down, rinsing it at least I walk to my room and kicked my heels off. As soon as my dress is off and my pj's are on my face hit the pillow and the tears finally make their appearance. They don't stop for hours at a time. When I feel like they are done my eyes close and I let myself sleep for once. Even though it's 5:30 am right now I sleep. I sleep until I almost forget what happened.
