What should I do, should I confess to Jaebum? I thought as I was playing with a pen on my hand, sitting in the classroom.
"Hello." He greeted as he pulled out the chair beside like he do everyday and sat down.
I smiled before going back to playing with the pen on my hand again.
"Are we still friends?" Jaebum suddenly asked, with seriousness in his eyes.
I looked at him, "Of course not."
He returned with a shock expression and look away from my eyes, "Oh."
I burst into laughter upon looking at his expression. "I'm just joking, of course we are!"
He took a few seconds to figure things out, then laughed too. "How dare you trick me."
"But seriously.. You only treat me as a friend?" It blurted out from my mouth, I could feel my cheeks getting red even though I couldn't see it.
He look away and thought for a while, "Actually, I—"
The school bell rang, cutting his words off. "I need to go back to my class now, bye!" Jaebum said before leaving.
I sighed, damn that school bell.
Back to the topic, why is it so hard to decide about confessing or not?
What the book said was right, though. I shouldn't lose this opportunity.
I took a deep breath. Fine, I will confess then.
~
As usual, I bought the same thing and went to an empty table to sit down before reading my book.
"Hello!" Someone suddenly greeted, I looked up and expected it to be Jaebum, but it wasn't.
The boy smiled at me before sitting down on the bench that was opposite me. "Do you still remember me?"
He looked familiar, though. Ahh, he's Jaebum's friend, right?
"Oh," I answered. "Jaebum's friend, Jinyoung?"
He smiled and nodded when he heard my reply.
That Park Jinyoung who said that I'm ugly.
"I'm here to actually tell you a secret." He began talking.
I sighed, "What secret?"
As if I'm interested in it.
"Actually, Jaebum Hyung like—"
"Park Jinyoung!" Jaebum shouted from far, before running towards us.
"I will tell you about it next time, bye bye!" He ran away quickly, without even hearing my reply.
I raised my eyebrow and was confused about what just happened.
Jaebum walked towards me with an awkward smile. "W-What did Jinyoung told you?"
Somehow, he looked very nervous.
"He didn't even manage to finish talking." I replied. "What's wrong, why are you shouting?"
He took a deep breath out, "It's nothing, just want to know what the both of you are talking about."
I nodded at his reply.
"By the way," I looked up. "Meet me at the park after school, I have something to tell you." I told him.
He asked me what was it, but I refused to answer, "You will know it later."
~
I glanced at my watch while waiting for Jaebum to come.
I kept pursing my lips, feeling butterflies in my stomach. How should I confess to him?
"Sung Hee!" Jaebum shouted at the opposite side.
I waved at him while he was crossing the road, but something bad happened.
Before I can even react, I saw Jaebum lying down on the ground after being hit by the car.
"Jaebum!" I shouted and ran towards him, afraid of what will happen next.
In a blink of eye, everything changed.
"Jaebum!" I yelled as I shook his shoulder, "Yah, can you hear me?! Yah, wake up! Don't scare me, yah!" Tears started rolling down my cheeks.
"Call the ambulance!" I cried to the people who were surrounding us.
~
"I'm so sorry, Jaebum.." I mumbled to myself while waiting for the doctor to come out from the operation room.
I'm so sorry, Jaebum. If I didn't ask you out, this wouldn't be happening right now, it's all my fault..
Just then, the doctor stepped out from the operation room.
I gulped before approaching him, "Doctor, how is he?"
My hands were trembling, being afraid of what the doctor will be saying next.
He smiled at me, "Don't worry, he's fine."
A grin appeared on my face, "R-Really?!"
The doctor nodded, "Other than his right hand being fractured, there's nothing else that's serious. He will probably wake up in a while, you can go in and see him now."
"Thank you!" I thanked the doctor before running into the room.
"If only I tell you earlier that I like you." I mumbled, sitting down on the chair beside his bed.
Just then, Jaebum's hand moved. I looked up at him with my eyes widened, and smiled happily. "Jaebum!"
His head moved a bit and he opened his eyes. Somehow, he looked very confused.
"Where am I?" He asked me.
"You're in the hospital. You got knocked onto a car a few hours ago."
"I got knocked onto a car?" He asked confusingly.
"Take some time to rest, don't think too much." I told Jaebum.
"Sure. But, who are you?"
My heart broke into a million pieces when I heard that question.
I frowned at him, "Yah, I know it's my fault that you're injured and got into the hospital. I know that I'm wrong, okay? Stop pulling my leg."
He raised his eyebrow, "What are you talking about? You said that, you're the reason why I got injured and got into the hospital? I don't get it, who are you?"
"Im Jaebum, stop it! This joke isn't funny." I said, hoping that everything he said a few seconds ago are all jokes.
"You even know my name? Seriously, who are you?" He asked again.
"I'm going to get angry and leave if you're not going to stop this nonsense." I threatened, feeling tense.
"What are you talking about?" He frowned.
"I really don't know you."
