✦Maggie's POV✦

Its getting dark & windy out here & I'm hungry again. Carter & Jaylnn have been flirting with each other for the pass three fucking hours & it's getting annoying.

"Hey new girl since you know where we're supposed to be, are we close to Double Rock?" I asked & she turned around. She looked around & then pointed upwards. I looked up & saw a street sign that said 'Chino Hills'. I frowned deeply before looking at her.

"The fuck! Are we going the opposite way?" I asked & she laughed.

Why is she laughing?

Where the fuck is the joke?

"You guys were deep on the wrong side. Trust me, I know where I'm going." She said before turning back around & continuing her conversation with Carter. I sighed before pulling my gun out & spinning it around on my index finger. A saw a pigeon walking on the side walk & I shot it in less than five seconds. Jaylnn shrieked & Carter shielded her as if they'd known each other for years.

"Chill Maggie." Carter scowled as if I was a kid & I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Chill Maggie" I mocked him under my breath. He glared at me before continuing to walk with his arm around Jaylnn's back. I growled lowly whilst eyeing his hand. It's a little too close to her butt for my liking. I don't have a say in anything though, he isn't mines. So, I just keep walking behind the two.

"I'm starving." Carter said as we neared a Taco Bell. Jaylnn turned around & looked at me.

"Mind if we make a lil pit stop?" She asked & I shrugged. She sent me a small smile before turning back around & walking into the fast food restaurant. I walked in afterwards & just like everywhere else, it was eeriely empty. I sat down at a small booth in the corner while Carter hopped over the counter & grabbed all of the tacos that were already made.

As I tapped my coffin shaped nails on the table, Jaylnn came & sat across from me. She smiled at me & I couldn't help but smile back.

"You're so pretty." Jaylnn said which caught me off guard. I laughed & shook my head 'no'.

"I'm not even close to how gorgeous you are." I said & she giggled.

"Carter, he-"

"I know, I know. You like him. That's fine, he isn't mine anyway. Never will be." I said with an artificial smile on my face. She looked a little taken back by my words but I don't know why. Its obvious she has a thing for him & he likes her as well.

"No. I was gonna say he wouldn't shut up about you. When we were walking, it honestly made me jealous the way he talked about you. They way he admires you yet he believes you don't take his feelings into consideration." She explained & I knew my cheeks were the same color as Cherry's.

"I know you like him. I know you do but you just probably have a hard time with showing your feelings. Correct me if I'm wrong." She said & I nodded.

"I just can't risk getting my feelings hurt. I know he must like you too. I saw the way he stares at you. Carter has already hurt me physically & emotionally. He's slapped me, he choked me, he said I was a bad kisser, he threatened to kill me, he called me gullible & ugly & a lot of other things I can't handle." I said while tracing an invisible pattern on the table. As soon as she was about to talk, Carter came back with a arm full of food.

"What took you so long?" Jaylnn asked.

"I had to make my own Java Blast." He said while rolling his eyes. Jaylnn laughed & I smiled a little. Her laugh can make anyone happy. I grabbed a soft taco & begin eating it. Carter sat next to Jaylnn across from me. They started talking & getting to know each other & all that fun stuff. When I was finished with my taco, I reached for another but what Carter said, stopped me.

"Are you trying to gain extra? Don't be a fatass." He said & I coughed awkwardly. Jaylnn's eyes were wide & angry.

"Carter! Why would you say that?" She scowled but I just gave her a fake laugh.

"It's okay." I lied before getting up to go get something to drink. I grabbed a small cup & filled it with ice & 7up. I grabbed a straw & walked back to the table. I sipped my soda as Carter & Jaylnn begin talking again.

After they were finished chatting & eating, we begin our journey back to Double Rock. I ate the ice out of my cup while following behind Jay & Carter. They suddenly came to a stop & everything went pin silent except for the multiple heavy footsteps that were coming from behind us. I grabbed my gun & turned around.

A few teenagers dressed in white & black were standing in front of us with rifle guns. I gulped & dropped my cup. There faces weren't covered so I was able to see what they look like. Three were boys & one was a girl who looked about fifteen. I looked behind me & Carter & Jay were both holding their guns but Jay, she had an AK47.

Where the fuck did she get that?

With no warning, she shot all four of the kids & begin walking like nothing happened. I stayed behind & took one of the kids rifles.

They don't need em' anymore

I ran up behind Jay & Carter to catch up with them. I frowned deeply while listening to what Carter was saying.

"Damn! Your good. You shoot better than Maggie. We could be partners in crime. Your Bonnie & I could be Clyde." He said while pulling her close by the waist. She giggled & pushed his chest lightly.

He didn't say that to me when I saved his ass....twice

I hung my head low feeling worthless.

Why am I not good enough?

What the hell am I doing wrong?

I sighed before picking up my pace. I brushed past the both of them & kept walking forward.

"Where do you think your going? You don't even know the way." I heard Carter say behind me so I turned around.

"Mind your fucking business, Carter. That's why I shot you in the shoulders earlier." I said before turning back around & beginning to walk but I was stopped when Carter pulled my braid & tugged me to the floor.

"Watch your smart ass mouth." He said before slapping me.

"Carter don't touch her like that." Jay said but the both of us ignored her.

"You're lucky I just didn't kill your stupid ass earlier." I said while getting off of the ground. Without another word, I kept walking.

I hate him....but I like him
