I sat in the uncomfortable surroundings of church, my palms began to sweat as I knew what was coming next. Reverend Theodore signaled me to start my solo, I took a step into the headlights blaring down on me from the top of the church.
I gulped silently, glancing at the huge crowd that sat in front of me full of smiles. I gulped once more taking in a shaky breathe and finally letting it out.
I began my first verse, my voice echoing throughout the church. My voice crackled going into my beginning high note, and I blushed wildly growing silent leaving everyone to their whispers. I looked over at the Reverend who showed disappointment as he continued to signal me into singing once again.
I shook my head rapidly ignoring his commands and requests turning my head to look at my best friend who turned her eyes on me as her face softened. She smiled sympathetically giving me a hand signal to continue also.
I sighed jumping from the stage managing to get my leg tangled in the wires of the microphone. I fell on my face hearing a mixture of laughter and boo's coming from the crowd. I untangled myself as fast as I could as I got up storming out the double doors of the church my tears running loosely as I never looked back. Even miles away I could never get the sound of the crowds laughter out of my ringing ears.
I gasped for air as my eyes fluttered open. I sat up in my bed feeling hot noticing my pillow and cover drenched in my own sweat. I sighed heavily as I looked around my room. The once beautiful bright coloring of my wallpaper now held on the slight curb at the bottom of the wall revealing the dirty bare brown wall beneath. I got up throwing my sweaty covers on the dirty wood floor as I made my way to the living room sprawling my body across the couch.
I laid there staring at the clock until I heard my alarm go off in my room. I grunted loudly shuffling my way to my room in hopes of not waking my mom. I slapped at the dismiss button until I heard complete silence. I walked into the bathroom standing in the mirror taking mental notes on my body.
I was average height for my age but slightly over weight. I frowned at my chubby cheeks and protruding cellulite's in my thighs. I had ass and boobs due to all the food I eat, but along with that I also had swollen feet and a slight stomach. I looked like a walking pregnant woman in her first trimester.
I walked out the restroom after slipping a head band on my hair. I slipped into a plain black jogging suit along with my run down nike's, remembering to put on a girdle before getting dressed. I left the house after doing my morning routine and skipping breakfast, walking towards my best friends home. I knocked on her door only once until she swung the door open letting it hit the wall of her house loudly.
"Whatever mom!" she yelled behind her raising up her middle finger before stepping out and slamming the door. I sighed at my friend Jessica, but I was used to it. We both had problems with our mothers.
"What happened this time?" I questioned her
"Girl, she still tripping over me and Dominique! Calling him all out of his name, but she just mad because she can't get a man and I got boys waiting in line for their turn." she rambled on
I laughed loudly, "Why do you like him anyway? He seems like he doesn't care about anything let alone anyone. Given that I've only seen him once before I'm basing this solely off of his look."
"There you go sounding like my mom! It's not about liking him, it's about getting my pleasure and moving on to the next. It's a win win use use situation. We're basically fuckbuddies." she explained
"I get that, but you don't ever want anything more than just sex? I mean I'm just asking."
"Nah, I think I'm good for now, I don't have time to be catching feelings."
"I guess" I shrugged
"Watch though, when we graduate we are getting the fuck up out of here! We about to be roomies!" she exclaimed
I blushed as everyone standing in the parking lot turned to stare at us both as we made our way to the school.
"On a more important topic, my cousin can hook us up with a record deal if we just make our demo tape." She quieted down
"And where do you think I or you or us both can get the money for studio time?" I questioned
"Stop making problems foreal you bumming everything down, just leave it to me alright?"
I nodded still not fully convinced.
