Emma's POV
Beep, beep, beep.
I woke up to the sound of my stupid alarm clock.
I got up and went to the bathroom, took a hot bath, and brushed my teeth.
Coming out of the bathroom in my towel, I sat on my bed, thinking, What am I wearing today?
I decided on a red spaghetti-strap blouse, skinny black jeans, my boots, and letting my hair down.
"Emma! If you're not down here in two minutes, I'm leaving you!" Mom shouted from outside my door.
I grabbed my phone and book bag, ran downstairs, grabbed an apple, and bolted outside to the car.
I jumped in and put on my seatbelt.
When we arrived at school, I hurriedly grabbed my book bag.
"Bye, hun," Mom said.
"Bye!" I called, running into the schoolyard, through the hall, and to my locker.
I quickly got my books and headed to class.
Ring, ring, ring.
"Good morning, class. My name is Ms. Allen. I will be your teacher for this year," a beautiful blonde lady said.
"Good morning, Ms. Allen," we said in chorus.
Just as she began speaking, my mind drifted into a world of wonders.
"Ms. Stonner," Ms. Allen said sharply.
"Yes, Ms. Allen?" I answered, startled.
"Please answer my question," she said.
"I'm sorry, can you repeat the question, Ms.?" I said politely.
"I asked, why is a transforming plate boundary considered neither constructive nor destructive?"
"Because it neither builds nor destroys," I answered.
"Okay, Ms. Stonner, but you need to concentrate in class," she said with a small smile.
The session went by quickly after that.
After second and third period, it was finally time for lunch.
Ring, ring.
The lunch bell rang, and we grabbed our stuff and headed out the door.
I walked to my locker to put down my book bag. Oddly, the halls were clear.
I was the only one there.
I closed my locker — and there he was.
Austin.
Standing there with that awful smirk on his face.
"Why are you here?" I asked, trying to walk away.
But he grabbed my hand, dragging me up against the wall and slamming me into the locker.
He leaned in and whispered in my ear, "So you're best friends with the almighty crew now?"
"Austin, you're an asshole! Let me go!" I shouted.
He tightened his grip, one hand moving to my neck.
Ethan's POV
We sat at the table in the cafeteria, but there was no sign of Emma.
She was nowhere to be found.
I decided to go look for her.
The hallways were empty — too empty — but I headed toward her locker anyway.
Then I saw it.
"What the f**k?!" I yelled, running toward them.
Austin had Emma pinned against the locker, his hand around her neck.
I sprinted up and grabbed Austin by the shoulder.
Emma's POV
Ethan grabbed Austin by the shoulder — and I didn't hesitate.
I punched Austin straight in the face, then kicked him hard in the nuts.
Without a word, I turned and stormed off.
"Wait up!" I heard Ethan call after punching Austin again.
"What happened, Emma?" he asked, catching up.
"Nothing, Ethan. Just leave me alone," I said, running off into the girls' bathroom.
