A Day Out

Well, AJ and I have been wandering around town for hours. For the years I’ve been living in LA, I still can’t remember where’s what. That’s because I’d be too lazy to go out anyways. I’ve always wanted to do this, but I never decided on whom to go with. I believe AJ is the right guy. He doesn’t know much LA and so do I, to be honest. If I take the guys with me, they’d already know where’s what so it wouldn’t be fun. Same thing goes to Ryan, or Toby, or Jess, or everybody else in LA that I know. When we find anything interesting, we’d take it down because we’d probably come back there. “Have you ever been to this part of the town?” AJ asked,

            “No.” I answered honestly,

“I know you were waiting for me.”

“Now, don’t get your hopes too high, pal. I was just waiting for the right… Person… To… Take… With… How the hell do you do that? That’s freaky!”

He shrugged, “I have my ways.”

            I snorted, “Yea, sure.”

“So, smiley, this project of yours…”

            “God, please don’t remind me.”

“What? It was amazing! I really liked it!”

“You liked it. What about my boss?”

“He’ll like it too.” He reassured, “Don’t worry, he’ll call.”

“What if? What if he doesn’t call?”

“It’s only for a promotion. You’ll get him next time. It’ll be his loss anyways. Who would turn down a talented kid like you?”

I scowled, “You’re only saying that because you’re my brother.” Brother. Brother. Big brother. Yea, it’s still sinking in.

            “Professionally speaking.” He corrected,

I cackled, “Just because you helped dad with his work, doesn’t mean you’re a professional too. I’m sorry to break it to you, bud.”

            “Whoa there, smiley.”

“Okay, I’m sorry.” I muttered, “So… About Andrew’s niece and Glen… Do you think they’ll, like, go out?”

            “Maybe.”

“Have you talked to him about that? The father and son talk? The don’t-break-her-heart-because-her-dad’s-going-to-kill-the-both-of-us talk?” I teased,

            “Sort of.”

I gasped, “That conversation is very crucial for a boy that age. You don’t want your son to be a heartbreaker, do you?”

“What? Of course not! I don’t want him to be just like his mom…” He twitched at the word ‘mom’,

“Hey, people tend to disappoint you.”

“Especially the ones you trust.” He grumbled,

“Yea… The ones you trust…” And then my mind sets back to that dreaded day. The day mom and Andy fought. I don’t know how it connects, but still. I trust them and they disappoint me by fighting.
