Riley could feel her hands shaking, and her heart beating out of her chest. Had she heard Maya right?
"I think we'd be better off as friends."
Of course she had. And she knew she was about to start crying, but she didn't care. She just wanted to know one thing. Her voice shook as she started to talk. "So, all of those times you told me you loved me, and that you cared...."
"I always loved you, and I always cared, Riley. Even before we started dating."
Okay. Maybe she did, before they started dating. But what about during the relationship? "When did you realize that you didn't?"
"I still do." Maya's eyes looked like they were staring into Riley's very soul. Those big, blue eyes that she'd fallen in love with.
Lies.
"No, you don't.... You don't, Maya."
"What?"
"Y-You don't love me. Not like I love you."
"Riley --"
"Did you ever love me, Maya?!" Riley's shout took even her by surprise.
Maya just stared at her, her mouth open but no sound coming out. "I-I don't know."
Tears falling down her cheeks, Riley simply nodded her head. "That's all I need to know. Goodbye, Maya."
And leaving it at that, she walked out the door.

Obviously this would never really happen because, let's face it, if Rilaya were canon, they'd be the power couple of Disney Channel.
